Qualifications:
Advanced Degree (Master's or CAGS) in Special Education/Administration. Certification in Special Education Administration is required. Three (3)+ years of successful special education teaching experience required. Ten (3)+ years of successful Special Education Administration experience required. Possesses a genuine desire to work with all students; be sensitive to and skilled in working with a diverse student population. .
Job Goals:
  • To provide case management and consultation services for the district in the identification, evaluation, and placement of special education students in out-of-district placements, and to provide administrative support to the Wareham Elementary School Special Education team.
  • In-depth knowledge of Special Education Law regarding Court-Ordered Placements, Homelessness.
  • All paperwork, monitoring, and other related tasks related to the out-of-district caseload
  • Ability to search for out-of-district placements for students.
  • Ability to provide support to school teams, and build collaborative relationships with Out of District programs, as well as build a strong knowledge of all in-district Special Education programs.
  • Coordinate with building administrators and Team Chairs to identify at-risk students.
  • Evaluate special education staff in substantially separate programs.
  • Knowledge of Problem Resolution and Bureau of Special Education Appeals processes.
  • Knowledge of Circuit Breaker and Extraordinary Relief
  • Attend all district-recommended training and conferences related to Special Education Law.
  • Any other duties assigned by the Director of Student Services or Superintendent.
