The Detroit College Access Network (DCAN) is a collaborative network that brings together local schools, community organizations, and partners to expand postsecondary opportunities for Detroit students. DCAN's mission is to promote higher education and make a college degree or credential attainable for all students in Detroit. The network focuses on expanding access to information, resources, and support for college and career pathways. DCAN works closely with educators, families, and community stakeholders to remove barriers and create sustainable systems that support student success. Team members contribute directly to initiatives that help students navigate their journeys beyond high school. The Graduate 313 Program Coordinator will support the Detroit College Access Network (DCAN) Graduate 313 programs and initiatives to increase college readiness, enrollment, and success for Detroit students, and will report directly to the Graduate 313 Program Director. They will play a key role in coordinating, implementing, and delivering various programs and events to increase college readiness and access across the city in our community hub locations.
Key Responsibilities:
Support Program Managers in the planning, coordination, marketing, and execution of Graduate 313 events and initiatives, including tabling opportunities for CHAMPions for Change Ambassadors. Represent DCAN and Graduate 313 at community events, resource fairs, school-based engagements, and outreach activities. Build and maintain relationships with school personnel, students, families, and community organizations to identify and engage individuals who may benefit from DCAN and Graduate 313 services. Assist with outreach efforts that promote participation in Graduate 313 programs, events, workshops, and advising opportunities. Maintain program and event calendars, ensuring all activities are accurately reflected on DCAN staff calendars and community hub scheduling systems. Manage room reservations and shared-space scheduling for the Graduate 313 Community Hub, with a primary focus on the Westside location and coordination with other tenants. Support participant follow-up efforts and connect learners and families with appropriate resources and services. Coordinate communication with community partners to maximize attendance, strengthen engagement, and ensure completion of event evaluations and feedback surveys. Prepare event materials, presentations, participant packets, sign-in sheets, and other logistical resources needed for successful program delivery. Assist with the implementation of Graduate 313 initiatives, including Postsecondary Access and Success Institute (PSAS) programming, Field Trip Fridays, High School Tours, Adult Learner Workshops, and Program Advising Office Hours. Track project tasks, monitor timelines, and support the completion of deliverables to ensure programs and events remain on schedule. Participate in team meetings, planning sessions, professional development opportunities, and other organizational activities as assigned.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required. Currently pursuing or have completed an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Education, Human Services, Social Work, Social Sciences, or a related field. Minimum of one (1) year of professional or office-based work experience. Strong interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Zoom, Canva, and other common workplace technologies. Professional demeanor with strong initiative, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail. Ability to engage effectively with students, families, school staff, community partners, and other stakeholders. Commitment to supporting educational attainment, college access, career readiness, and community engagement efforts. Experience working with youth, schools, community-based organizations, or college access and success initiatives. Familiarity with event planning, outreach, participant engagement, and community partnership development. Experience using databases, customer relationship management (CRM) systems, or data-tracking platforms. Ability to anticipate team needs and proactively support program implementation and operational logistics. Must be available to work the required schedule, including occasional evenings, weekends, and community-based events as needed.
