Job Summary:
The Mission Nutrition Coordinator exudes energy, warmth, and friendliness as one of the first faces of the YMCA of Saginaw. While operating a successful and high-quality feeding program, the Mission Nutrition Coordinator works intuitively on community initiatives and member engagement simultaneously. The Mission Nutrition Coordinator lives out the YMCA mission, vision, and values. Position inCorporate Structure:
The Mission Nutrition Coordinator will report to the Healthy Living Director.Position Summary:
The Mission Nutrition Coordinator provides oversite to the YMCA of Saginaw Mission Nutrition program including, but not limited to, menu preparation, purchasing of food and supplies, and supervision of food prep staff as well as ensuring that all reporting requirements for the Youth food program are met. The Mission Nutrition Coordinator will also oversee the Y café grab-and-go meal production and nutrition education for youth and community partners. This position will require a flexible schedule including some early morning, evening, and weekend responsibilities. Essential Functions/Primary Roles and Responsibilities Model the YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility. Direct oversight of the year-round food programs daily operations and compliance, including but not limited to site visits, tracking, paperwork completion, ensuring meal orders align with attendance so as to reduce waste, monthly reporting and claim preparation, audit preparation, assist in annual application process with State as well as make changes to YMCA of Saginaws Food Program Policies and Procedures throughout year, etc. Monthly meal and menu design. Food ordering to reduce waste and align with Healthy Eating standards. Help manage and coordinate YUSA food grant (e.g. monthly reporting, site visits, data collection, monitoring, budgeting and tracking spending) meet all grant deadlines. Communicate regularly with CACFP Sponsor Monitor/Coordinator, Sponsored Program teams, regarding program implementation. Complete YMCA HEPA and Serve Safe trainings, CACFP trainings as needed and all other required trainings. To ensureCACFP/SFSP
compliance, the Mission Nutrition Coordinator will assist with training staff annually for CACFP, as well as, throughout the year on an on-going basis, traveling to sites when necessary for one-on-one trainings. Assist Healthy Living Director to maintain record keeping systems and processes. Assist with aggregate and process data for various projects including site visits and surveys. Assist with research and cost comparisons with vendors to maintain cost effectiveness and quality. Assist with exploration of populations we serve who could benefit from food programming. General office duties such as word processing, bookkeeping, flow of correspondence, filing, requisitions of supplies, etc.YMCA Competencies:
Demonstrates proficiency in all competencies necessary as defined by the YMCA of the USA Leadership Competency Development Guide.Essential Requirements/Qualifications:
Must have prior experience in the food service industry. Ability to work independently and initiate program implementation/improvements as needed. Passionate belief in the Ys cause of nurturing the potential of all youth, supporting healthy living for all people, and finding ways to help and support our neighbors. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Possess the organizational and communication (oral and written) skills needed to work in a busy work environment with a high degree of accuracy. Possess the ability to be a highly analytical and critical thinker in a multi-tasking environment. Ability to travel to multiple locations if monitoring duties are needed. While normal working hours are required, this position will occasionally include evening and/or weekend work. Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles.ADA Requirements:
Working in a recreational facility setting requires standing, sitting, and walking. Position requires lifting up to 50 pounds, reaching above the shoulders, bending at the waist, climbing stairs, squatting, kneeling, and crawling depending on activities scheduled. Individuals must be able to grasp office supplies and equipment, communicate clearly via phone, email, and in person, and be able to work in a climate-controlled environment including fluorescent lighting and air conditioning.
