Job Description

New Birth Midwifery's Student Program at our Chaska birth center is designed to provide immersive, hands-on training for aspiring midwives within a high-functioning birth center environment. Built on mentorship, accountability, and continuity of care, this model allows students to develop strong clinical skills while also learning the operational systems that support sustainable midwifery practice. Through December 31, 2026 and possibly extended into the spring of 2027 we will be assigning students to a NARM qualified preceptor and the student will follow her schedule for 2-3 months. By consolidating training into focused shifts and with one preceptor for an extended period of time, students are able to meaningfully participate in birth, clinic, and postpartum care without the unpredictability of constant on-call demands. Our birth center is going through a restructuring and hiring new midwives so we are putting a pause on our residency student program (48 hour on site training blocks) until students are more able to shadow all our midwives equally to continue to get high quality training and signatures. We plan to restart this program as early as January 1st, 2027 and as late as June 1st, 2027. Applicants enrolled in a MEAC-accredited program are given preference but on a case-by-case basis other training modalities are also considered. To apply, upload your resume/CV and a professional referral letter from. Once we've reviewed your resume and confirmed availability in your student phase, we will reach out with further information on our program and additional forms to complete.
