Job Summary - Why you'll love this position You will be joining a team of environmental professionals dedicated to conserving natural resources at Missouri Army National Guard's (MOARNG) training sites throughout Missouri. The MOARNG offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the sustainable management of our natural resources while supporting military operations. This position will be located at the Ike Skelton Training Site, Environmental Management Office, 6819B North Boundary Road, Jefferson City, Missouri 65101 Responsibilities - What you'll do As a member of the Conservation Section, you'll play a key role in managing environmental programs for the MOARNG.
Your responsibilities will include:
Manage the MOARNG's National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Program. Manage the MOARNG's Endangered Species Act (ESA) Program by complying with all State and Federal regulations, especially Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act. Developing and implementing environmental projects such as Flora and Fauna surveys to support MOARNG's mission. Assist MOARNG's Conservation Section with planning and execution of natural resource management activities. This will consist of but not limited to performing prescribed burns, invasive species control, wetland management, soil conservation management, and coordinating a managed deer hunt. Collaborate with internal sections, programs, and MOARNG unit personnel as well as federal and state agencies, such as the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Missouri Department of Conservation. Preparing reports, propose budget for projects, and oversee environmental data calls and collections. Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to support NEPA, ESA, and natural resource's programs. Qualifications - All you need for success We are looking for a self-motivated person with experience in the natural resources/environmental field. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in a field related to Natural Resources/Environmental Science and 2-4 years of relevant experience (Substitutions may be allowed). Possess a valid driver's license. Be able to pass a background check. Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with NEPA Processes and environmental compliance. Military Common Access Card (CAC) is preferred. Exceptional organizational, communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work both independently and as a team. Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply laws, policies, guidance, procedures, plans, and reports. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and navigate rugged terrain. Ability to use office equipment, such as copier, phone system, scanner, and computer. Knowledge of military operations, rank structure, and military terminology.
