Job Description

Full-Time Position Summary:
The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) Therapist provides evidence-based therapeutic services to older adult patients enrolled in the program. This role is responsible for facilitating group therapy, completing clinical assessments, and ensuring accurate, compliant documentation that supports medical necessity and program sustainability. The therapist works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to promote patient safety, engagement, and improved mental health outcomes in a structured outpatient setting.
Program Structure & Schedule Expectations:
Facilitate 11 group therapy sessions per week Provide services across 4 patient care days per week Utilize the 5th workday for: Patient attendance as needed Documentation completion Care coordination and administrative responsibilities Maintain consistent presence during scheduled program hours to support patient care and program flow Key Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to): Facilitate structured, evidence-based group therapy sessions tailored to older adults Conduct biopsychosocial assessments and participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning Develop, implement, and update individualized treatment plans Provide individual and family sessions as clinically indicated Monitor patient progress, participation, and response to treatment Maintain therapeutic engagement and manage group dynamics effectively Collaborate with nursing, physician, and program leadership to ensure coordinated care Identify and respond to safety concerns, including suicide risk or clinical decompensation Support referral development and program growth through professional engagement
Documentation & Compliance Expectations:
Complete all documentation in the EHR accurately and within required timeframes Ensure documentation supports medical necessity and billable services Accurately document group start/end times and patient participation Complete and update: Treatment plans Progress notes Group notes Assessments Discharge planning documentation Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA, CMS, and Joint Commission standards Participate in audits, quality reviews, and compliance initiatives
Qualifications:
Minimum of Master's degree Active, unrestricted licensure (LMSW, LCSW, LMFT, LPC) Experience working with geriatric or older adult populations preferred Experience in group therapy preferred Knowledge of evidence-based practices (CBT, DBT, etc.) Experience with EHR systems preferred
Contract Expectations:
Full-time contract role aligned with IOP program schedule Consistent attendance required to support 11 groups/week and 4 patient days/week Responsible for maintaining licensure and required credentials Professional liability insurance required (if applicable per contract terms) Compensation and additional terms outlined in contract agreement

Pay:
$35.00 - $40.00 per hour
