Job Description

Clinical Program Coordinator Location:
Boone, North Carolina | Full-Time | Non-Exempt Why You'll Love Working Here As a Clinical Program Coordinator at UNC Health Appalachian, you will help lead and support clinical exercise and wellness programs designed to improve patient outcomes and quality of life. This role combines patient education, program coordination, and clinical support to ensure safe and effective wellness programming in a healthcare environment.
Compensation:
Starting at $18.31/hour, based on education, experience, and internal equity

Work closely with physicians, therapists, and healthcare teams What You'll Do as a Clinical Program Coordinator Coordinate and oversee clinical exercise and wellness programs within the healthcare setting Ensure the safe and effective delivery of patient exercise programs and wellness services Conduct patient assessments to develop individualized exercise plans Educate patients on safe exercise techniques, equipment usage, and wellness strategies Assist patients during exercise sessions and monitor progress toward health goals Initiate contact with patients, obtain required medical releases, and coordinate program enrollment Collaborate with physicians and clinical teams to ensure programs meet medical and regulatory requirements Maintain accurate program documentation and patient records Support administrative and operational needs of the wellness or clinical exercise program Assist with patient education sessions and program scheduling Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or related field required Clinical Exercise Physiology background preferred Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a wellness or clinical exercise environment preferred Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association required at hire ACSM or NSCA certification required within 12 months of hire Preferred certifications: ACSM Health Fitness Specialist or Clinical Exercise Specialist Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Experience coaching and educating patients on safe and effective exercise practices Strong interpersonal skills to engage with patients, physicians, and healthcare team members Ability to perform subjective and objective assessments to develop individualized fitness plans Knowledge of exercise equipment and rehabilitation-focused training protocols Ability to design and deliver patient education programs Physical & Work Environment Frequent patient mobilization (>4 hours per day) Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to and greater than 50 pounds Frequent standing, walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, and reaching Continuous hand, finger, and wrist dexterity Close visual attention and monitoring of patient activities Frequent interaction with patients and healthcare team members
