Description:
  • The overall goal for the COAACH Program Leader for the COAACH Center for Outreach in Alzheimer's, Aging and Community Health (COAACH) is to provide leadership, coordination, and operational oversight for the management and development of the Center's community outreach, education, and programmatic initiatives, while dedicating approximately 25% of effort to supporting research grant activities affiliated with the Center.
  • The COAACH Program Leader will assist the COAACH Director in outlining the strategic goals of the Center, designing and implementing effective outreach programs, and working closely with community partners to produce community health and education events.
  • The Program Leader will specifically focus on creating, promoting, and producing community health education and outreach initiatives with an aging related focus that advance the Center's mission, strengthen community engagement, and support awareness of brain health, aging, and community health initiatives.
A part of the position's responsibilities will include supporting research-related outreach and recruitment activities associated with COAACH-affiliated grants.
  • One of the collaborative initiatives supported by COAACH includes the state and federally funded grants. In support of this efforts, the COAACH Program Leader will dedicate effort to assisting with recruitment-related activities, and working with different providers of aging services across Greensboro, rural communities, and the broader state of North Carolina.
  • In addition to the duties above, the Program Leader will independently manage a broad range of business, administrative, and operational affairs for COAACH. Primary responsibilities include providing administrative support in the areas of financial resource management, and planning and organization of Center operations.
  • The Program Leader will assist with managing the day-to-day workflow of the Director's office; coordinate Center activities; serve as a primary public contact for internal and external constituents; oversee budgets; exercise discretion and judgment in handling confidential matters; coordinate meetings; manage special projects and events; and provide supervision and leadership to staff and students.
  • The Program Leader serves as the first point of contact for university administrators, faculty, staff, students, parents, vendors, alumni, stakeholders, and the general public in coordinating COAACH business affairs, including personnel administration, office coordination, and budget monitoring and management.

North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University is an 1890 land-grant doctoral Research University dedicated to learning, discovery, and community engagement. The College of Science and Technology enrolls over 2514 students. It is a national leader that serves and engages the citizens of the state of North Carolina, the nation, and the world through preeminence in science and technology education, research, discovery, and innovation. The College houses the departments of Applied Engineering Technology, Biology, Built Environment, Chemistry, Computer Systems Technology, Mathematics and Statistics, Physics, and the Ph.D. Program of Applied Science Technology. The College is experiencing substantial growth in enrollment, faculty size, curricula, and research.. The overall mission of COAACH is to improve healthy aging in different communities. The center is N.C. A&T's first formal Community Outreach Center and the first center of this type in the State of North Carolina on a Historically Black University's campus. The goal of the center is to improve health through outreach and improve literacy, awareness and engagement among different communities. The four major cores of the center are: 1) community outreach and education in Alzheimer's, Aging and Community Health, 2) intervention and support, 3) education and training, and 4) research in the field of Alzheimer's disease.

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or and equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Preferred:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree, and/or six or more years experience working with the elderly, aging-related fields, working on public health projects with a health education focus, demonstrated understanding of health disparities, ease in communicating with experts and lay individuals.
  • Be comfortable using digital meeting technology, Microsoft Office Suite, CANVA, Email Marketing Software, and other software platforms as needed. Supporting content development and management for COAACH-related messaging including website information and social media postings would be beneficial to the grant COAACH Program Leader.
  • The Program Leader should have experience coordinating, developing, evaluating, and managing community outreach, education, and center-based programs, with a working knowledge of supporting research-related activities.
