Hourly Employment :
Roster positions are paid hourly and do not include benefits such as medical, dental, or vision insurance, life insurance, paid leave, or paid holidays.
Limited Hours :
Roster employees may work up to, but no more than, 1,000 hours in a 12 month period.
Pension System :
Roster positions are not eligible for membership in the city's pension system. While roster positions do not include benefits, they are often a pathway to full-time, benefited employment with the City. The Olympic Sport Program Lead will be responsible for leading the development, planning, implementation and evaluation of track and field and Olympic style sports programs which may include clinics, meets, camps, tournaments and leagues. Roles and Responsibilities will include but not limited to: handling event logistics such as organizing and supervising track meets and multi-sport competitions and events. Coordination of timing systems, equipment setup, field layouts, officials, volunteers and staff. Creating schedules, handling awards and ensuring risk management measures are in place through policies and procedures and program expectations. The person will be responsible for the coordination of facility space, such as securing venues (fields, tracks, gyms and other facilities). Ensure proper set up and break down and safe use of equipment. Assist in budget and financial oversight, including preparing and monitoring program budgets, tracking revenue and handling reservations in RecTrac, keeping track of expenditures including, purchases and making recommendations for program equipment and supplies. They will also be responsible for keeping accurate inventory of equipment and supplies. They will ensure safety through the establishment of program policies and procedures and maintaining incident and accident reports. This role will also be responsible for recruiting and training volunteers, coaches, and program participants in areas such as program goals and objectives, skills and drills, and safety protocols and procedures. The role will promote athletic development, sportsmanship, and community engagement through track and field and other Olympic sports while maintaining compliance with governing bodies, standards, department and section policies and best practices of Olympic style sports. This role will report to and work with the athletics section Coordinators and/or Superintendent in the execution of these program initiatives. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Associate's degree or equivalent coursework in Sports Management, Recreation, Physical Education, Kinesiology, or related field OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Minimum 1-2 years of experience assisting with or coordinating athletic programs, track meets, or organized sports events. Experience supervising staff, officials, and/or volunteers. Experience with event logistics, facility scheduling, and equipment management. Knowledge of basic track and field or Olympic-style sports rules, safety, operation standards. CPR/First Aid/AED Certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days) Preferred Qualifications USATF certification or other National Governing Body certifications Track and Field Coaching Expereince Experience operating timing systems and meet management software Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Sports Management, Physical Education, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience
