The Qualified Professional is responsible for providing comprehensive support to clients through skill-building activities, psychoeducational guidance, and therapeutic mentoring. The role includes helping clients develop daily living, socialization, and adaptation skills, as well as managing symptoms and behavioral challenges. This position also involves planning for crisis and substance use recovery, fostering leisure interests, and offering strategies for anger and behavior management to promote overall personal growth and well-being.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Facilitate various skill-building activities to promote personal growth and independence. Provide psychoeducation to both clients and their natural support networks. Assist clients in developing essential daily living and community engagement skills. Help clients enhance socialization and adaptability in various environments. Encourage the exploration and development of leisure interests and activities. Support clients in managing and monitoring symptoms related to mental health and behavioral challenges. Offer therapeutic mentoring to foster emotional and behavioral growth. Assist in recovery planning and management of crisis situations, including substance use disorders. Provide guidance and strategies for managing behavior and anger effectively. Train staff on day program procedures and modular day training, make staff assignments, ensure adequate staffing, schedule lunches and breaks, and order supplies. Stay informed about new developments, methods, and training techniques in the BH field. Attend mandatory meetings and training sessions as required and scheduled by unit management staff, administrators, or corporate managers. Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position may have supervisory responsibilities, which may vary based on the size and scope of the program.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor's degree in non-human services field. Bachelor's in human services such as Social Service, Sociology, Psychology, or other related HS Field. Master's degree in human services field.
Experience:
If bachelor's in non-human services field, must have 4 years of full time pre-or post-graduate degree with one or more of the following populations- mental health-child and/or adult, substance use-adult and/or child. If bachelor's in human services field, must have 2 years of full time pre- or post-graduate degree with one or more of the following populations: Mental Health- child and/or adult, substance use-adult and/or child. If master's in human services field, must have 1 year of full time pre- or post-graduate degree with one or more of the following populations: Mental Health- child and/or adult, Substance Use-adult and/or child. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to regularly lift and carry up to 20 lbs. and occasionally pull at least 40 lbs. Must be able to squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, climb, and stoop as part of regular job duties. Must be able to use hands and fingers to handle or operate objects, tools, or controls. Required to stand and walk for extended periods. Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in CPR from floor level, which requires working on hands and knees, bending, standing, and lifting. Vision requirements include close, distance, and peripheral vision. Must be able to talk and hear. Exception -
