Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The incumbent is responsible for managing a broad-based array of activities for the Youth Department. The Youth Program Coordinator identifies what activities members would like see at the JCC and develops plans to implement those programs. The incumbent provides leadership in making sure that the Youth Department offers high-quality activities that successfully compete with comparable services available in the community. The Youth Program Coordinator will observe and evaluate all programs to ensure that we continue to provide high quality services.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Responsible for the planning, promotion, and implementation of youth enrichment style classes for members of the JCC and the community.
  • Develop new and innovative programming while maintaining and growing programs that are currently offered.
  • Monitor current trends in programming and recommend new programming in response to trends identified.
  • Oversee JCC Birthday Parties which will include scheduling, planning, and hosting weekend parties for our JCC Members and their guests.
  • Coordinate Sit&Fit, including scheduling and staffing, maintaining the room and handling reservations, and policies and procedures, to fill in on shifts for Fit&Sit, Kidz Inn, JCC Camp, and other JCC Youth Department Programming as needed.
  • Work closely with the JCC Camp Leadership Team; assist with staffing, planning, and leading activities for camp.
  • Oversee Kids Night Out programming which will include scheduling, planning and leading.
  • Routinely solicit feedback from program participants and other JCC members to collect data (e.g. programs offered and programs desired) to present to leadership.
  • Collaborate with appropriate JCC staff to ensure that the Youth Lounge, Party Room, and other facilities are safe, clean, and properly maintained.
  • May oversee other staff as assigned.
  • May perform duties outside respective area of responsibility as requested.
  • Reliable and predictable attendance.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned. Schedule This position requires active participation on evenings and weekends. Additionally, must be available to support programming as needed. This position is 30 hours per week. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Ability to identify outstanding staff resources that are available to the JCC for programming and to supervise those resources on an ongoing basis.
  • Maintain current certification in CPR and be able to assist in emergency situations.
  • Able to become Lifeguard certified to help fill in when needed for youth programs when utilizing the pool.
  • Ability to identify the needs of members and to deliver programs based on those needs.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Able to handle competing priorities and deadlines by demonstrating excellent time management skills. Ability to pass a background check and drug screen. Education and Experience High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • The person in this position needs to constantly move about the campus, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.
  • The person in this position constantly communicates with others. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position occasionally working on a computer in an office environment.
  • Occasionally operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Occasionally position self to pick up/put down items.
  • Occasionally ascend/descend a ladder or stairs.
  • Ability to occasionally move objects up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment Works in well-lighted and ventilated indoor area(s), indoor pool areas which may be humid, andoutside weather conditions that may include heat and humidity.
