Job Description

Duties Leadership & Operations Lead daily operations of the afternoon program and ensure a safe, engaging, and well-organized environment. Staff Leadership Supervise, mentor, and support afternoon program staff. Assist with onboarding and training new employees. Ensure staff complete required professional development and licensing requirements. Conduct regular staff check-ins and communicate program expectations. Foster a collaborative, respectful, and professional team environment. Family Engagement Build positive relationships with children and families. Communicate program updates, child achievements, and important information with parents and guardians. Respond professionally to parent questions and concerns. Support enrollment, family orientation, and ongoing communication. Program Development Plan and oversee engaging afternoon activities, including enrichment, homework support, and outdoor recreation. Maintain organized classrooms and activity spaces. Ensure materials and supplies are prepared for daily programming. Collaborate with staff to develop age-appropriate, engaging curriculum and activities. Administrative Responsibilities Maintain accurate child and staff records. Ensure health, attendance, and licensing documentation remains current. Assist with enrollment paperwork and program documentation. Coordinate with the Morning Executive Director to ensure continuity between programs and communicate important updates. Support organizational initiatives, Board priorities, and continuous program improvement. Supervise afternoon arrival, attendance, transitions, and dismissal. Oversee daily program flow and respond to operational needs as they arise. Supervise staff, providing coaching, guidance, and support. Ensure compliance with all New Hampshire childcare licensing regulations and program policies. Promote a positive, child-centered culture where every child feels welcomed and supported. Make informed decisions to address daily challenges and ensure smooth program operations. Qualifications (p) A site director or a site coordinator in a school-age program shall be at least 20 years of age, have a high school diploma or equivalent, including but not limited to a General Equivalency Diploma (GED), High School Equivalency Test (HiSet), or a Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC), and have at least one of the following: (1) Written documentation from or on file with the department that they were qualified and employed as a site director in a school-age program on or before the effective date of these rules in 2022; A minimum of an associate's degree awarded by an accredited college or university in related coursework; Certification of successful completion of training as a recreation director plus 1,000 hours' experience working with children in a licensed child care program, recreation program, or a public or private elementary school; A total of 12 credits in child development, education, recreation, or related coursework, awarded by an accredited college or university, plus 1,000 hours of experience working with children; Certification as an educator by the Department of Education; or Experience working with children totaling 2,000 hours and: Certification as a para II educator by the Department of Education; or Both of the following: Documentation of enrollment in a course for at least 3 credits in child development, education, recreation, or related coursework through an accredited college or university, and a written plan on file for completion of at least 3 additional credits as specified; and Within 12 months of the date the individual begins working as a site director, documentation of successful completion of at least 6 credits as specified in b.1. shall be on file for review by the department. Preferred Bachelor's degree in Education, Early Childhood, Human Services, or related field Previous childcare leadership experience
