  • Full-time Position Summary The 4-H Fair Program Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing the Somerset County 4-H Fair and other large-scale 4-H Youth Development programs serving County residents.
With minimal supervision, the coordinator works collaboratively with 4-H staff and a large, diverse volunteer base to deliver high-quality, engaging educational experiences for both youth and adults. A significant portion of the role (up to 60%) is dedicated to volunteer management and support, including serving as a liaison to 4-H Fair volunteer committees. The position also focuses on building and maintaining strong relationships with community organizations, county government partners, and potential sponsors. Success in this role requires the ability to market events effectively across multiple platforms , manage competing priorities and deadlines, and demonstrate strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. This position requires flexibility to work multiple evenings and weekends to support events, programs, and meetings. The role is essential to the successful operation, growth, and community impact of 4-H programs in Somerset County. Essential Functions In collaboration with staff and 4-H volunteers, plan, coordinate, and organize the volunteers to implement direct and indirect educational programs to showcase the accomplishments of the 4-H youth under the direction and supervision of 4-H Agents. The main event is the Somerset County 4-H Fair (over 40,000 in attendance), but other large events include 4-H Open House, and any other 4-H events candidate develops. Working with County Public Info (PIO), design and order Fair promotional/marketing items such as flyers, posters, lawn signs, magnets, and tee shirt designs, etc. Liaison to 4-H clubs, 4-H Association committees, and Somerset County Departments as it relates to the position. This will entail night and weekends. Maintain program records and prepare reports. This includes keeping a record of all items noted for the Fair and updating the Fair operating manual in a timely fashion as needed. Represent 4-H/RCE on multisector partnerships and coalitions to support the youth members. Participate as a member of appropriate community organizations, coalitions, or committees. Attend appropriate training sessions. Develop and deliver on-going and new innovative educational programs and events beyond the Fair. Support other 4-H staff with program events. Market 4-H events through social media, articles and news releases, etc. pertaining to areas of program responsibility. This could include designing recruitment displays for different events. Respond to clientele requests for information by mail, telephone, email, or in-person. Create & staff educational exhibits at events. Attend appropriate training sessions to be current in subject matter knowledge and educational methodology. Attend appropriate staff and other meetings and participate as a member of total RCE team. Assist RCE faculty to train professionals. Participate as a member of appropriate community organizations, coalitions or committees. Assist with all other RCE duties as assigned. Qualifications Essential Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university. Five (5) years' relevant work experience, including event planning, managing volunteers, and youth development. Excellent written and oral communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills. Experience utilizing multiple social media platforms and other forms of marketing. Proficient in basic computer software programs (Microsoft office) and social media use. Experience with Canva and/or other graphic design tools. Ability to use basic audio-visual equipment. Must have a valid NJ driver's license. Must have the ability to work a flexible work schedule, including evening and weekend hours. Must successfully complete Rutgers Youth Protection training and Rutgers and county-required background checks, including completing the complete Rutgers CITI Certification Training. Preferred Experience with youth organizations, especially 4-H Youth Development. Experience teaching youth and adult audiences. Experience in fund raising/sponsorship. Bilingual in Spanish. 35

$52,000
