Senior Life Skills Coach Location:
Paramus, NJ FTE/Classification:
Full-Time Non-exempt Shift:
Monday - Friday (8:00am to 4:00pm)
Pay:
$20.50 per hour
Primary Function:
Support individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental disabilities in development of skills needed for greater independent functioning and community integration.
Performance Responsibilities:
Although each position has its own unique duties and responsibilities, the following listing applies to every employee of North Jersey Friendship House, Inc.: Works towards the accomplishment of department/Agency goals Maintains confidentiality and immediately reports to management breaches in confidentiality Practices job requirements on an accurate, timely and regular basis Observes and maintains appropriate professional boundaries with members, co-workers and supervisors Attends all scheduled meetings as assigned Meets relevant continuing educational/training requirements Completes all required trainings/documentation/paperwork accurately and within established time frames.
Essential Functions Include:
Prepare for and lead meaningful groups to facilitate members personal, social, vocational and independent growth Assist members with following their daily activity schedule Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations, programs, businesses and employers to ensure ongoing connections for community inclusion and learning opportunities Work with Program Manager re: planning recreational and activities of daily living outings Drive up to a 15 passenger van to and from community activities as needed Supervise members on community activities and ensure their safety. Attend and participate in supervision sessions with Program Manager or Director of Day and Community Services Document program member's progress towards ISP goals and objectives according to DDD and Medicaid guidelines. Work with Program Manager on review of members' progress and recommendations for new goals and objectives. Keep all program members records and medications in a secure cabinet. Work with supervisory team on program development. Notify Program Manager immediately if there is any kind of incident i.e. injury, seizure, behavioral, accident and document according to agency policy and procedures. Work with Program Manager regarding oversite of program schedule and documentation assignments. Work with program staff on curriculum planning and community trip assignments. Develop and oversee transportation and bus duty assignments. Ensure that the sign in/sign out sheets and the community trip forms are completed properly daily. When Program Manager is not present, act as covering manager Work with Program Manager to complete clients annual updates Assist Program Manager with evaluations of program staff. Work with Program Manager on EHR corrections as needed. Other duties as assigned by Program Manager, Director of Day and Community Services or the Executive Director of Day and Community Services.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field preferred or working towards a degree Minimum one (1) year experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders required Three (3) years of experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders or other developmental disabilities may be substituted for Bachelor's degree Registered Behavior Technician preferred Valid driver's license with clean record.
