The Day Program Unit Leader is responsible for supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in a safe, engaging, and person-centered environment while providing leadership and guidance to direct support staff within the classroom/unit. This position plays a key role in ensuring quality services, regulatory compliance, staff mentorship, and meaningful programming for the individuals we support. Essential Responsibilities Maintain a safe, secure, and supportive environment for all program participants. Supervise and monitor consumer attendance and participation within the unit. Demonstrate knowledge of OPWDD regulations, person-centered practices, and agency policies. Serve as a role model and mentor to Day Program Specialists, providing guidance and support to help staff operate the unit efficiently and independently. Motivate and direct staff to complete assigned responsibilities and provide quality care and programming. Maintain a caseload of individuals as a primary advocate, including completion of goal plans, daily documentation, and semi-annual reviews in accordance with agency and regulatory requirements. Complete daily documentation within MediSked in compliance with agency policy and OPWDD standards. Coordinate and lead bi-weekly unit meetings to discuss program updates, concerns, and operational needs. Communicate relevant information, incidents, and behavioral concerns to appropriate staff and supervisors in a timely manner. Assist individuals with activities of daily living, including dining assistance, toileting, dressing, and transfers as needed. Oversee classroom activities and provide direction to classroom staff regarding daily programming and schedules. Promote dignity, independence, and community inclusion for all individuals served. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred. Knowledge of OPWDD regulations and documentation standards preferred. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to mentor staff in a team-oriented environment. Ability to complete documentation accurately and timely. Must be able to assist individuals with physical support needs as required.
