Responsibilities:
TheSEL/PATHS
Program senior counselor works with the Director of Socioemotional Learning/PATHS and under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director ofSEL/PATHS
to support program logistical operations and service delivery. This role works collaboratively to assist in day to day program responsibilities to support program families and provide therapeutic services of both PATHS and other socioemotional group therapy programs. This includes assisting in behavioral and crisis intervention support for children during program time, organizing program materials and conducting community outreach to assist in recruitment and retention of program children and families. Staff member will work to support therapeutic efforts and intervention goals of the PATHS Program, socioemotional therapy groups and Mt. Hope Family Center overall. The successful candidate will demonstrate insight and experience working with preschool and school age children and their families who have experienced potentially traumatic events and who are at high-risk for emotional and behavioral dysregulation. They will exhibit willingness and ability to foster an environment in the programs in which evidence-based services are provided and program evaluation is completed. They will exhibit respectful and clinically informed approach with parents and caregivers while assisting in program recruitment efforts. The successful candidate will be self-reflective and open to feedback and development of clinical skills and approach as well as possessing a strengths based, person centered and culturally humble perspective on wellbeing. The ability to attend to detail and to adjust to ongoing program changes and growth are essential. Possesses and exhibits independence, vision, and creativity, as well as the maturity to interact with former peers in a nonsupervisory leadership role.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Work directly with the Assistant Director of SEL to assist in the implementation of clinical and operational aspects of Mt. Hope Family Center's socioemotional therapeutic group programs and operations. Assists in recruitment of program community families and community outreach to support program enrollment; with specific regard to times of increased enrollment (summer camp, availability of additional therapeutic school year groups). Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, diplomatic, and writing skills in meetings and communications with caregivers, school personnel, and others regarding program needs- 10%.
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor degree in Psychology, Social Work, School Counselor, or related fields and/or child development. High School/GED or equivalent degree required. Experience with children is strongly preferred. Requires basic knowledge of child development. Counselors must be 18 years of age. Work experience with children and families preferred.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, oral communication, and writing skills. Familiarity and comfort with MS Office Applications, particularly Access and Excel are desired.
