Rye Brook, NY Job Details $125,000 - $145,068 a year 4 hours ago Qualifications Stakeholder relationship building Full Job Description Southern Westchester BOCES is seeking a skilled and collaborative leader to serve as a Special Education Supervisor for the Center for Special Services. SWBOCES, whose core values are Service, Integrity, Equity, Opportunity, and Access, provides special education programs throughout Westchester County offering the full continuum of student services, This is a center-wide leadership position which oversees key programs, coordinates related services and compliance functions, and supports professional learning initiatives to strengthen staff capacity and student outcomes.
PRIMARY PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Coordination and Oversight :
Coordinate, oversee, and grow the Before and After School Intervention Services (BASIS) program, including communication with partner school districts and training of providers. Coordinate and oversee all state testing in compliance with NYSED requirements. Support Related Service coordination, assignments, and scheduling to ensure compliance with IEP mandates. Apply for and coordinate grants to support CSS programming initiatives, including but not limited to My Brother's and My Sister's Keepers grant opportunities. Support and liaise with SEPTA (Special Education Parent Teacher Association).
Professional Learning and Staff Development :
Design and deliver high-quality, tiered professional learning opportunities for CSS staff in alignment with district initiatives. Topics may include but are not limited to: Youth Mental Health First Aid, Restorative Practice, Equity, Social-Emotional Learning (SEL). Design and deliver onboarding and training for new staff. Develop, coordinate, and oversee the Teacher Aide Mentor Program including training for mentors. Serve on and coordinate the Teacher Aide Labor Management Committee.
Supervision and Evaluation :
Conduct formal observations of certified staff as assigned. Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to support staff growth and program quality
Leadership and Collaboration :
Collaborate with leaders, administrators, and center-wide staff to ensure coordinated and effective service delivery. Participate in program development initiatives in response to emerging district needs. Communicate clearly and effectively with staff, families, component district personnel, and other agencies. Support building-level leadership teams as needed across SWBOCES programs. Job Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
New York State Certification in School Administration and Supervision (SAS), School Building Leader (SBL), or related administrative certification preferred. Special Education Certification or equivalent experience in Special Education. Knowledge of and experience with Part 200 Commissioner's Regulations and the CSE process. Thorough knowledge of the continuum, of Special Education Services and Disability Classifications. Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering professional development for school staff. Experience with program coordination, grant management, or related administrative functions preferred. Knowledge of PBIS, Youth Mental Health First Aid, Restorative Practice, and Social-Emotional Learning frameworks. Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to build collaborative relationships across diverse stakeholder groups. Previous building-level, supervisory, or coordination experience preferred.
