 Problem Solving Agency Overview The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce is a diverse team of passionate, education-focused professionals responsible for overseeing and enhancing the quality of education for each of Ohio's 1.7 million students. The Department provides the resources and supports essential to raising student achievement and accelerating learning opportunities, advancing the connectivity between K-12 and postsecondary learning, creating programs to support and expand workforce experiences, and ensuring students have the necessary supports to be ready each day to learn. As the governing body responsible for overseeing and enhancing the quality of education within the State of Ohio, the Department of Education and Workforce is dedicated to promoting educational excellence and ensuring equal access to learning opportunities for all students. The Department is committed to collaborating with schools, districts, educators, students, families, businesses, nonprofits and all stakeholders to achieve our educational goals. Job Duties The Office of Federal Programs is looking for candidates with a commitment to serve districts and schools to achieve their goals and help raise student performance. The candidates should have experience in working in the education or related fields as well as working with federal grants. The selected candidates will serve as a single point of contact to superintendents, treasurers and district staff on how to use implement federal programs and use resources to improve student outcomes.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Provides training and support to school districts regarding the federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) and the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce's data and compliance systems: Determines school district allocations, both formula and competitive, for ESEA and other federal programs; Provides support to internal and external stakeholders on ESEA and other federal laws, guidance, and state and federal budget and accounting principles; Provides support to ensure efficient school district implementation of the law; Assists school districts in receiving and utilizing federal ESEA and other federal funds; Assists school districts in completion of applications for federal funds and reviews for approval; Assists school districts with operating the e-grant planning and funding application (CCIP) and other systems used to administer and implement the consolidated application; Conducts trainings for internal and external stakeholders on federal ESEA laws and regulations, department operational systems, and office strategies and policies; Researches, compiles data, interprets and completes reports regarding state and federal laws. Conducts evaluations and monitors performance of districts regarding the ESEA and other federal programs: Prepares reports on school district compliance with federal laws and regulations; Conducts desk and onsite audits to monitor for compliance. Performs other duties as assigned by the Office Administrator or Assistant Administrator. Qualifications 6 years of experience in any combination of the following: Providing technical assistance/support related to federal grants (i.e., implementing, monitoring, interpreting). Education administration. Managing business best practices and initiatives to ensure financial compliance (i.e., auditing, financial management, resource allocation).
