Program Delivery:
Set up, and facilitate high and low ropes activities, ensuring they align with camp objectives, safety standards, and participant abilities. Lead group sessions on the ropes, providing guidance, encouragement, and support to ensure a positive and challenging experience for all participants.Safety & Risk Management:
Ensure that all ropes course activities are conducted in compliance with safety protocols, regulations, and industry best practices. Inspect and maintain ropes course equipment and logs regularly, ensuring that all gear, ropes, and structures are in safe and working condition. Conduct thorough safety briefings for participants before engaging in any ropes course activity, emphasizing proper use of equipment and safe behavior.Participant Supervision & Support:
Provide supervision, support, and encouragement to participants during ropes course activities, ensuring their safety, emotional well-being, and personal growth. Adapt facilitation techniques to suit the varying needs and skill levels of participants, ensuring an inclusive and supportive experience for all.Team Building & Leadership Development:
Use the ropes as a tool for developing teamwork, communication, trust, and leadership skills among participants. Lead group discussions and debrief sessions to reflect on the experiences and lessons learned during the activities. Collaboration withCamp Staff:
Collaborate with other camp specialists and staff to integrate ropes course (i.e., knots, etc.) activities into broader camp programming, ensuring a seamless and engaging experience for all participants. Provide training and support to other staff members in safely assisting with ropes activities when needed.Assessment & Feedback:
Monitor and assess camper progress and engagement in all activities, providing individualized feedback and support to help campers achieve learning objectives. Collect and analyze data on program effectiveness, adjusting as necessary to improve outcomes.Resource Management:
Manage materials and supplies needed for activities, ensuring they are well-organized and available. Develop and source new resources, tools, and materials to enhance the quality of programming.Mentorship & Leadership:
Serve as a role model and mentor to campers, encouraging teamwork, communication, and leadership Lead by example, fostering a positive attitude toward learning and a sense of curiosity and wonder.Requirements:
At least 18 years of age Ability to obtain and maintain a certification in specialty (DNA to STEAM Specialist) Previous experience in camp leadership or youth programming Strong leadership and organizational skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially in working with children and parents. Knowledge of specialized program safety regulations, risk management practices, and emergency procedures. Enthusiasm for specialized activities and a commitment to promoting water safety and skill development. Passion for working with youth and a commitment to creating a positive and memorable camp experience. Ability to live with staff and campers for the duration of the summer camp season Physical ability to administer first aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Physical ability to travel over uneven surfaces in extreme summer temperatures for 15 hours a day. Physical ability to carry and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds over uneven surfaces Physical ability to reach, stoop, climb, kneel, and move freely in locations as outdoor camping sites and storage areas Ability to meet affiliate employment requirements, including acceptable outcomes to background check and reference checks (If utilizing personal vehicle for camp business) Provide personal auto insurance verification (If needed to drive affiliate vehicle) Acceptance by affiliate auto insuranceSimilar remote jobs
