This is a 260 day position. The Head Start Special Services Supervisor has the overall responsibility for supervising the special services aspects of the Head Start program to ensure compliance with the Head Start Act of 2007 and the Performance Standards. Summary:
The Head Start Supervisor of Special Services provides leadership and oversight of the program's screening, special education, and behavioral support services, ensuring compliance with CCIU and Office of Head Start requirements. This role supervises, coaches, and develops staff; supports families throughout the referral and evaluation process; oversees behavior management and disability services; and collaborates with the CCIU's ABA Clinics, Preschool Special Education, Behavior Consultants, Data Specialists, and other program teams to address student needs and improve outcomes. The position also contributes to professional development, data monitoring, Policy Council participation, budget and grant development, community partnerships, and recommendations for resources and materials to strengthen program services.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for immediate supervision of screening, special education, and behavioral supports of children in the Head Start program following all CCIU and Office of Head Start policies and procedures. Develop positive relationships with families enrolled in the program, supporting families in understanding the role of early intervention and the importance of engaging in the referral and evaluation process. Train, coach, and supervise staff to ensure implementation fidelity of specially designed instruction in the classroom. Oversee behavior management protocols of program. Ensure staff completion of Behavior Incident Reports. Coordinate with Behavior Consultant to ensure rapid response for students with challenging behaviors. Participate actively in data team, specifically looking at behaviors and troubleshooting solutions to improve program success. Manage the disability component of the Head Start program, including screening and referral for additional services, in collaboration with Preschool Special Education. Interact with the Policy Council at monthly meetings, substituting for the Director and/or the Supervisor of Health and Family Services when needed. Make recommendations regarding staff professional development needs; provide or arrange for training in collaboration with Head Start Supervisor and Coaching team. With the Data Specialist, oversee assigned staff completion of special services data tracking. Assist in creation of budgets, grant applications, and community partnerships to grow the Head Start program. Recommend purchase of equipment, supplies and materials based on classroom observations.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience Bachelor's Degree in Education, Social Services, Human Resources, or a closely related field required Previous supervisory experience strongly preferred Knowledge of operating grants strongly preferred Professional or Other Required Clearances Valid Driver's License & reliable transportation required Current police, child abuse, and FBI fingerprint clearances within 1 year required
Salary Range :
PRJ, Level 15,
Exempt:
$77,987
  • $97,483/yr.
  • Placement on band is based on years of direct experience in a comparable role.
  • 260 day position, 7.
5 hours per day, 5 days per week
