Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Food Program Counselor to join our community-focused organization. In this role, you will provide essential nutritional guidance, social support, and motivational counseling to individuals and families seeking assistance through our food programs. Your expertise will help empower clients to improve their dietary habits, access resources effectively, and achieve greater health outcomes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in nutrition and social work, along with excellent communication skills and a genuine desire to make a positive impact in the community. Duties Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients' nutritional needs and social circumstances to develop personalized support plans. Provide counseling sessions that incorporate motivational interviewing techniques to encourage healthy behavior changes. Educate clients on balanced nutrition, meal planning, budgeting for groceries, and healthy lifestyle choices. Assist clients in navigating available food assistance programs and connect them with relevant community resources. Monitor progress over time, adjusting counseling strategies to ensure sustained improvements in clients' well-being. Collaborate with healthcare providers, social workers, and community organizations to coordinate comprehensive support services. Maintain detailed records of client interactions, progress notes, and program participation while ensuring confidentiality. Responsibilities Conduct client intake and determine program eligibility Maintain accurate client records and data entry Coordinate food deliveries and distributions Track inventory and assist with warehouse organization Answer calls and provide program information to clients Support volunteers and food distribution activities Maintain confidentiality and follow program guidelines Qualifications Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to manage multiple tasks independently Basic computer and data entry skills Team-oriented with a professional attitude Experience working with low-income individuals and families preferred Requirements Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and vehicle insurance Ability to obtain required clearances (Act 33/34, FBI, MVR) Ability to lift up to 60 pounds Willingness to travel as needed $14.00 per hour Monday -
