Job Description

Position Summary:
The Program Supervisor supports the daily operations of the afterschool program by ensuring a safe, structured, and engaging environment for children. This role assists with supervision, program activities, attendance tracking, and communication with families while promoting positive youth development and adherence to all safety and licensing requirements.
Responsibilities:
  • Maintain accurate daily attendance records for students and staff, including follow-up with families regarding absences.
  • Ensure the safety and supervision of all children in accordance with licensing requirements and program policies.
  • Monitor and document proper sign-in/sign-out procedures, ensuring only authorized individuals pick up children.
  • Follow GPCA protocols for first aid and emergency situations, including completing incident reports and medical logs.
  • Assist with daily program operations, including leading activities, snack distribution, homework support, restroom supervision, and cleanup.
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming program environment.
  • Support recordkeeping, data tracking, and reporting as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned. Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in education, social or human services, child development, or a related field with at least 1 year of experience working with children; OR
  • Associate degree in a related field with at least 3 years of experience working with children.
  • At least one year of experience in a leadership or supervisory role in an afterschool program, day camp, or youth development setting.
  • Experience working with low-income, underserved youth and diverse populations.
  • Familiarity with youth development principles and urban community settings.
  • Experience with recordkeeping, data tracking, and report writing.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive) and virtual platforms such as Zoom.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with children, families, and staff.
  • Excellent organizational and coordination abilities.
  • Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to emergencies and critical incidents.
  • Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Additional experience in youth outreach or community-based programming.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.
Working Conditions:
  • Program-based environment with active supervision of children.
  • May require standing, walking, and engaging in physical activities for extended periods.
  • Standard full-time schedule with potential for occasional extended hours based on program needs. Benefits
