Join the Springfield YMCA as a Gymnastics Coach! We're looking for enthusiastic, energetic individuals to lead fun, engaging, and skill-building programs. Gymnastic programs are scheduled for daytime weekdays.
POSITION SUMMARY
Plan, direct and implement safe, quality gymnastics programs as scheduled. Must have thorough knowledge of course content, curriculum and enjoy working with children. This position will be expected to follow the values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility in every duty associated with the YMCA. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1.
Assists with planning, directing, and implementing gymnastics program. 2. Reinforce children's actions in a positive manner to promote safety and health self-images. 3. Builds effective, authentic relationships with participants and parents; helps them connect with each other and the YMCA. Encourages parent involvement. 4. Maintains records as required (i.e. attendance, progress reports, etc.). 5. Completes accident/incident reports as necessary. 6. Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled. 7. Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary. 8. Organizes and puts away needed class equipment. Reports damaged equipment. 9. Maintain a professional attitude and appearance at all times (in accordance with the CYEDC dress code policy.) 10. This position will adhere to policies and procedures related to boundaries and supervision with consumers. Manage high risk activities and follow mandated reporter requirements. 11. Any other duties deemed necessary to ensure the success of the Community YMCA of Eastern Delaware County.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 18 years of age. Preferred experience working with children Strong communication and customer service skills Ability to lead activities, engage groups, and manage behavior positively Reliable, responsible, and able to work independently
Certifications:
American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR/AED, and First Aid within 15 days of hire. Completion of required trainings. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations. Able to lift and carry 15-50 lbs. Must be able to see, hear, direct, and assist members, guests, and staff to ensure safety.
