POSITION SUMMARY
The Community Program Producer is a part-time position responsible for coordinating and organizing programs for Kennett Library patrons of all ages. The primary focus of this role is arts and culture literacy programming and financial literacy programming, with additional support for other literacy-inspired program areas as assigned. This position works closely with the programming team, particularly in collaboration with the other Community Program Producer. Together, the two positions share workspace and scheduling to provide effective full-time programming coverage, and are expected to work in tandem to exchange ideas, identify new opportunities, and strengthen the library's overall program offerings. The Community Program Producer reports to the Program Lead, attends bi-weekly programming team meetings and monthly staff meetings.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Coordinates and organizes arts and culture, financial, and other literacy programs, as assigned, for Kennett Library patrons of all ages, managing logistics, scheduling, materials, and community partner relationships from planning through execution.
  • Supports assigned program areas, providing coverage and assistance in collaboration with the broader programming team.
  • Works closely with the other Community Program Producer to share ideas, identify new programming opportunities, and ensure a cohesive and well-rounded library program calendar.
  • Coordinates shared office space and scheduling with the other Community Program Producer through a shared calendar system to ensure consistent, full-time program coverage.
  • Attends bi-weekly programming team meetings; collaborates with programming colleagues to align efforts, share resources, and avoid scheduling conflicts.
  • Is available for some evening and weekend programming responsibilities, consistent with the programming team's scheduling expectations.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with community organizations, artists, educators, and other partners to support and enhance program offerings.
  • Provides general program support across the library as needed, including setup, promotion assistance, and cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Performs other professional and operational tasks as assigned to support the library's mission and evolving community needs.
EMPLOYMENT CRITERIA
  • Experience in program coordination, event planning, arts administration, or a related field. Demonstrated interest in or knowledge of arts and culture, financial literacy, or library programming strongly preferred; a degree in a related area is a plus but not required.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple programs simultaneously and work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Comfortable working with patrons of all ages and working a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to build and sustain community partnerships and engage diverse audiences across the Kennett community.
  • Spanish-speaking ability is highly desirable and would meaningfully strengthen the library's capacity to serve our full community.
  • Commitment to the library's mission of inclusive, community-centered service.
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace (including Docs, Sheets, Slides, Calendar, Drive, and Gmail) is a plus; comfort with technology and a willingness to learn new tools is essential.
PRIMARY WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Ability to navigate a public building, tolerate moderate noise levels, and perform light lifting (minimum 15 lbs) unless otherwise specified.
  • Maintain up-to-date clearances and adhere to the library's safety and emergency protocols.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed by the library's operational needs.
