Description The Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice is a multi-faceted agency that serves juveniles of the Commonwealth. While striving to hold youth accountable for their actions, the Department creates opportunities for sentenced, committed, probated, or detained youth to develop social and career skills that will equip them for re-entry into their communities as productive and responsible citizens. The Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) seeks to serve youth in the least restrictive, appropriate placement possible. The employee is expected to perform all duties to the best of their ability, act in a responsible manner at all times, demonstrate leadership qualities, and treat all staff, youth, and persons with respect. This is a demanding position that requires maturity, reliability, and self-discipline. Career growth and advancement are encouraged through training and mentoring opportunities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Provides research, curriculum development and instruction in correctional security, treatment, legal issues, operations, health and safety areas and other related areas. Conducts research and develops instructional materials, lesson plans and other curriculum for Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) training. Plans and organizes training events for DJJ staff. Provides input into the development of the annual training plans in facilities, calendars and other training documents. Provides in-service training and academy training. Submits training and progress reports and provides feedback regarding staff training performance. Completes all related documentation as required. Certification will be required and maintained for multiple training courses - this includes behavior management techniques that covers staff self-protection and physical restraint. Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS
Must have two years of experience in any operation or program within the field of corrections and, or, education. Substitute

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
(AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE Working Conditions Statewide travel will be required to conduct training programs. Probationary Period This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in
KRS 18A.111.
