The mission and function of theSIERRA RESOURCE CONSERVATION DISTRICT
(Sierra RCD) is to take available technical, financial, and educational resources, whatever their source, and focus or coordinate them at the local level, to meet the present and future natural resource needs of the local land user. Offices are in Auberry, Clovis, and Fresno, CA. More information can be found at www.sierrarcd.com Sierra RCD's service area covers the eastern half of Fresno County and has three main programs in operation that interact with local land users and landowners: the Forestry and Watershed Program, which predominantly focuses within the Sierra Nevada Mountains and foothills; the Agriculture and Rangeland Program, which focuses within the Sierra Nevada foothills and Central Valley floor; and the Collective Impact Program, which aims to enhance community resilience through outreach, education, and technical assistance.The Collective Impact Program :
The Sierra RCD Collective Impact Program envisions active engagement by all land users to overcome the negative impacts of large-scale disturbances, resource management challenges, and natural disasters.Overview:
Sierra RCD is seeking an individual deeply committed to serving land users facing climate impacts in the Central Valley to support the Collective Impact Program's Outdoor Equity Programming. The Outdoor Equity Program Coordinator will support Sierra RCD's Collective Impact Program by helping connect youth and families to outdoor recreation, conservation education, and career exploration opportunities. The position will work closely with community organizations, students, and families to support the successful implementation of Outdoor Equity Program activities. This position requires strong organization, communication, and relationship-building skills, along with the ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively both internally and externally. The Outdoor Equity Program Coordinator will lead the implementation of the following programs:Natural Area Trips:
(30%) a. Coordinate nature area trips, including planning, logistics, partnership communication, activity coordination, educational curriculum implementation, and follow-up. After School /Summer Programs:
(40%) a. Coordinate and implement after-school and summer programming for youth, including activities, conservation education scheduling, communication, and supervision.Youth Internships:
(15%) a. Coordinate and support youth internships, including communication, scheduling, supervision, and project support.Community Events:
(10%) a. Coordinate and support Environmental Justice Events Other appropriate work as this position develops. (5%)Essential Experience and Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and/or three-plus years of professional experience in outreach and education in natural resource management, resource conservation, or related fields; Experience working with youth and disadvantaged communities Experience with developing lesson plans, curriculum, and activities related to conservation Understanding the unique circumstances and history of the culture and climate of California's Central Valley; Experience in a leadership role on project management; Experience with grant writing, implementation, reporting, and budget management; Proficiency with MS Office including excel and other data management programs; Ability to work independently, multi-task and prioritize in a dynamic work environment; and A valid State of California driver's license and reliable transportation.Reports to:
Manager of Collective Impact Working Conditions:
This is a part-time or full-time position (20-40 hours per week), hybrid schedule of in-office and remote work. Applicants must be primarily located within Fresno County, or live within a reasonable driving distance. This position will require daily speaking on the phone, emailing, online meetings; with periodic in-person meetings and site visits in Fresno County.Commitment:
Compensation range is $20 to $31 per hour commensurate with experience and qualification.To Apply:
