Full Job Description Purpose:

The In-Person Program Specialist located in San Antonio, TX is primarily responsible for providing outreach to transitioning service members, veterans, and military or veteran spouses to participate in the Operation New Uniform (ONU) Career Readiness Programs. As part of their outreach duties, they will aid in communicating with organizations and companies in the San Antonio, TX metropolitan area that support ONU's ability to serve our mission. Additionally, this Specialist will have responsibilities for delivering the ONU in-person Career Readiness Programs in San Antonio, TX.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Professionally represent ONU at events, information sessions, career fairs, etc. to provide information regarding our Career Readiness Program to prospective applicants
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with military installations, veteran-serving organizations, and other community groups to identify and provide information to potential applicants
• Serve as the primary ONU point of contact for local active duty, reserve and National Guard transitioning service members and their spouses
• Attend Military Transition Assistance Program (TAP) and similar briefings to inform and register service members and their spouses for the ONU Career Readiness Program class that works best for their schedule
• Establish, grow, develop, and maintain a network of individuals, organizations, and businesses to help facilitate the professional success of ONU Students and Alumni (

Example:

Chambers, Military Issue Committee, SHRM meeting, etc.)

• Assist the Programs Team with the building and maintenance of professional relationships within businesses, employers, chambers of commerce, and workforce development organizations
• Assist with the coordination of volunteers' participation in ONU events and other community events where it would be beneficial for ONU to participate
• Provide information to In-Person Programs Manager for regularly scheduled and special staff or Board of Director meetings, to discuss issues, coordinate activities, or resolve problems
• Learn the Sandler system beyond the ONU Curriculum and provide in-person instruction
• Assist in regularly evaluating the program curriculum to assess suitability, relevance, and the need for updates
• Represent the organization objectives at official functions/events in the San Antonio, TX metropolitan area
• Assist with the planning and coordination of networking events, workshops, and other ONU Program-related events

Qualifications:

• Associate's degree in business or related training and development degree or equivalent military or non-profit organization experience
• Direct knowledge of military culture, traditions, values, and structure
• Passion for our mission and willingness to selflessly serve others in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where every decision we make is for our students and Alumni
• 2+ years of progressive professional responsibility for management and administration of education programs, including curriculum development or equivalent military service or experience
• Demonstrated intricate knowledge of the Veteran Service community and the military to civilian transitional process
• 2+ years' experience in recruiting, public affairs, or public speaking experience
• 2+ years of direct training and development experience
• 2+ years handling sensitive and confidential information including employee records, organizational files, and financial information
• Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals in leadership and key community roles throughout the region
• Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints
• Highly motivated, passionate, and creative team player
• Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, team environment
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and complete assignments accurately and in a timely manner
• Ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships
• Demonstrated ease and confidence in public speaking
• Ability to communicate with diverse personalities in a tactful, mature, and flexible manner
• Ability to troubleshoot and identify viable options and problem-solve using excellent reasoning abilities and demonstrating sound judgment
• Ability to take initiative, multi-task, work independently, and work well under pressure Preferred Experience
• 2+ years of nonprofit organizational experience
• Knowledgeable in the Sandler system
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Salesforce or other CRM systems
• HR / Recruiting / Training & Development experience
• Operation New Uniform Alumni This position will be based in San Antonio, TX, but will occasionally travel to the Jacksonville, FL area and other locations based upon program expansion.

Employees must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends as required to fulfill workload requirements.
