The program empowers young men to strengthen their character, build positive self‑esteem, develop the capacity to make healthy choices, and challenge themselves to grow into the best version of who they can become. Through mentorship, engaging lessons, and meaningful relationships, BUILD creates a challenging and supportive environment where boys can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Position Summary The BUILD Program Specialist plays a central role in shaping the experience of participating students. In collaboration with the Program Director, this position is responsible for developing and delivering engaging curriculum, leading large‑group sessions, cultivating strong relationships with students, and equipping volunteer leaders to facilitate small‑group discussions. The ideal candidate is passionate about youth development, skilled at building trust with young males, and energized by creating an environment where students feel seen, valued, understood and motivated. Position is part-time, hourly and reports to the Program Director. Duties Curriculum & Instruction Develop weekly lesson plans that include: A structured teaching component Small‑group discussion prompts A hands‑on or interactive activity Serve as the primary leader for large‑group lessons, modeling strong communication and positive leadership. Adapt content to meet the developmental needs and lived experiences of middle school boys. Volunteer Recruitment & Training Recruit, train, and support small‑group discussion leaders. Provide ongoing coaching to ensure volunteers feel confident, prepared, and aligned with program goals. Foster a collaborative, mission‑driven team culture among program volunteers. Student Engagement & Relationship Building Build authentic, supportive connections with middle school boys participating in the program. Engage students in meaningful conversations that promote motivation, self‑reflection, confidence, and healthy decision‑making. Create a safe, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable expressing themselves and taking positive risks. Program Support Collaborate with Flourish staff, school staff, administrators, and community partners to ensure program success. Monitor student engagement and provide feedback to improve program quality. Support special events, field trips, or enrichment activities as needed. Experience Proven experience leading secondary education level programs Development of curriculum and lesson plans Coordinated the work efforts and energies of volunteers Have worked in a public school environment
Pay:
$18.00 - $22.00 per hour
