The Agency Big Brothers Big Sisters of Connecticut (BBBSCT) is a statewide youth mentoring organization committed to igniting the power and promise of young people. Through high-quality, professionally supported one-to-one relationships, we help youth build resilience, expand their vision for the future, and reach their fullest potential. With more than five decades of service and a presence in all 169 Connecticut towns, BBBSCT delivers a range of innovative mentoring programs that are grounded in research, responsive to community needs, and driven by equity and access. The Position The Program Specialist, Program Facilitation and Match Support serves a dual role within BBBSCT's program team by facilitating structured mentoring sessions in school settings and managing a caseload of active mentoring matches. This role facilitates structured mentoring experiences across service models, ensuring consistency, engagement, and alignment with agency standards. By balancing in-person program facilitation with trauma-informed coaching and relationship monitoring performed in a remote environment, this role helps promote youth safety, match retention, and progress toward program goals. A flexible schedule is required to meet participant needs across Connecticut. Responsibilities Site Facilitation Deliver structured mentoring sessions in schools and community settings that prioritize child safety, youth development, and match quality Build rapport with participants and foster engagement through consistent in-person, virtual, and event-based interactions Coordinate site activities, training, and communication to ensure aligned, high-quality service delivery Collaborate with internal teams to support cross-functional transitions, match development, and participant success Match Support & Case Management Manage a caseload of active mentoring relationships, conducting regular individualized support contacts with Bigs, Littles, and families. Monitor relationship health, child safety, and progress toward youth goals, intervening when risks or barriers arise. Provide strength-based coaching and resource referrals to enhance relationship quality and youth development. Support match transitions, closures, and re-engagement processes as needed. Internal Collaboration & Communication Participate in cross-functional conversations to ensure smooth handoffs and a consistent participant experience. Share insights from interviews, match observations, or support contacts to guide case planning and team alignment. Attend team meetings, trainings, and agency-wide initiatives to stay aligned with agency goals and best practices. Program Administration & Engagement Maintain accurate, timely documentation in Matchforce and ensure compliance with BBBSCT and BBBSA quality standards. Deliver responsive and inclusive customer service to all participants. Represent BBBSCT at community events, match activities, or family engagement functions. Remain informed about program goals, grant expectations, and outcome metrics tied to assigned responsibilities. Qualifications Bilingual (English/Spanish) required. Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent lived/professional experience will be strongly considered. Minimum of 2 years' experience working with youth and families in mentoring, education, or human services. Experience facilitating youth programs in a group setting is a plus. Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel regularly throughout Connecticut. Required Skills and Abilities Excellent relationship-building and communication skills across youth and adult populations. Confident facilitator and compassionate case manager. Strong judgment and risk assessment capabilities. Familiarity with trauma-informed, youth-centered, and equity-driven practices. Proficient in digital documentation and case management systems (e.g., Salesforce/Matchforce). Effective multitasker with strong time management skills and attention to detail.
