The Restoration Coordinator works closely with the WSA Director of Restoration to execute the RePlant Anne Arundel Program, RePlant Annapolis Program, and assist with other watershed restoration projects. In 2025, RePlant Anne Arundel and RePlant Annapolis installed over 4,000 trees and engaged over 1000 residents throughout Anne Arundel County. The Restoration Coordinator will lead these programs to meet WSA's annual tree planting goals with volunteers and restoration contractors. This includes leading two online training courses, in-person planting during the spring and fall planting seasons, and volunteer continuing education events throughout the year.Duties & Responsibilities:
Restoration Programs (RePlant Anne Arundel and RePlant Annapolis): 75% •RePlant Anne Arundel and RePlant Annapolis Program Management:
The Restoration Coordinator will help update the WSA website and social media to help promote RePlant Anne Arundel and RePlant Annapolis. Promotion will also include public speaking and in-person and virtual workshops. • Execute the Backyard Buffer program: Coordinate with DNR to secure and distribute roughly 1,800 native tree seedlings per year to Anne Arundel County and City of Annapolis residents. This includes managing supply and material orders, volunteer coordination to bundle and prepare seedlings for pickup, and managing and tracking online orders. •Volunteer Engagement and Management:
The Restoration Coordinator will coordinate the Tree Trooper and Tree Ambassador Programs, including recruitment, training and support through successful community tree plantings. This includes the instruction of virtual and in-person training courses, mentoring volunteers through the necessary steps required to create and implement a tree planting project in their respective communities and coordinating continuing engagement events to ensure volunteers remain connected and engaged. •Tree Plantings:
The Restoration Coordinator will work with and manage both volunteers and contractors to plant trees in Anne Arundel County. The Restoration Coordinator will have some field work but must also be able to coordinate and manage multiple projects at the same time as efficiently and effectively as possible. •Restoration Reporting:
The Restoration Coordinator will track tree plantings via spreadsheet and GIS to ensure easy reporting of the restoration efforts throughout Anne Arundel County and the City of Annapolis. They will also be responsible for managing all restoration related project submissions in WSA's volunteer reporting database. •Programmatic Support:
The Restoration Coordinator will work in collaboration with the Director of Restoration and other staff to help plan and execute restoration efforts in flagship programs such as the Certification Course, RePollinate Anne Arundel, Save Our Trees, Stormwater Success, and certified Steward action. •Site Visits:
Visit sites that will be receiving trees through the RePlant program. Verify species selection and provide feedback on planting plans.Grant and Budget Management:
10% •Grants:
seek and apply for grants to support WSA's restoration programs, submit reports, execute program goals, and track and manage project budgets. •RePlant Budget:
Track RePlant expenses to ensure proper expenditure of restricted and unrestricted funds.Special Projects and Organizational Support:
10% •WSA Tool Inventory:
Monitor, inventory, and track WSA's inventory of restoration tools and supplies. •Professional Liaison and Networking:
Build and maintain relationships with partners (watershed organizations, county agencies, funders, tree nurseries). •Annual Conference Support:
Help coordinate the restoration sessions for the conference including speaker selection, outreach and promotion, and CEUs for restoration professionals and provide support for the event as needed.Watershed Steward Certification Course:
5% • Participate in class sessions related to restoration: Facilitate conversations and promote WSA's tree programs. Answer Steward questions related to trees, community tree plantings, resources, and other restoration related topics. •Mentor Stewards:
Provide guidance and feedback to Stewards who are completing capstone projects with a tree planting element. Coordinate tree and shrub orders, coordinate planting dates, attend volunteer planting projectsEducation & Experience:
Two (2) years of experience working in the environmental restoration field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities deemed sufficient to prepare the applicant to successfully perform the duties of the position.Salary & Benefits:
Starting Salary Range:
$55,000-$70,000Benefits Include:

Flexible work schedule to include approximately 40 hours per week. Some evenings and weekends are required, but daytime hours are flexible around the employee's schedule. This is a hybrid position. Primary work location is the WSA Office located at Arlington Echo Outdoor Education Center (975 Indian Landing Road, Millersville, Md), with telework on an agreed schedule. A background check and fingerprinting (paid for by WSA) is required prior to employment. Qualified applicants must have the ability to travel to and from project sites using their own vehicle. Business mileage reimbursement is included.Job Type:
