RICAN RICAN
is a community-based nonprofit organization serving Washington County, Rhode Island through food assistance, outreach programs, support services, and community partnerships. We are currently seeking a compassionate, organized, and confident individual to join our team as our Kindness Program Coordinator. Position Overview The Kindness Program Coordinator is often the first point of contact for community members facing financial hardship or personal crisis. This role requires excellent people skills, strong communication abilities, emotional intelligence, and the ability to navigate difficult conversations with kindness and professionalism. The ideal candidate is someone who can listen empathetically, assess needs thoughtfully, maintain healthy boundaries, and respectfully redirect individuals to other resources when appropriate. This position plays an important role in strengthening community connections and helping individuals access meaningful support services throughout Washington County. Responsibilities Meet with individuals requesting assistance from the Kindness Program Assess client needs and determine program eligibility Assist clients with intake paperwork and application processes Provide referrals to local and statewide resources when RICAN cannot directly assist Maintain compassionate and respectful communication during difficult conversations Collaborate with local nonprofits, shelters, churches, and social service agencies Maintain accurate client records and program documentation Track program data and outcomes for reporting and grant purposes Assist with seasonal outreach programs and community initiatives Support the continued growth and sustainability of the Kindness Program Qualifications Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to remain calm, compassionate, and professional in stressful situations Comfortable setting boundaries and making independent decisions Organized and detail-oriented Ability to handle confidential information professionally Microsoft Office and basic computer skills required Previous experience in social services, nonprofit work, customer service, healthcare, or community outreach preferred Education & Experience Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent work experience preferred.
Schedule Part-time:
20 hours per week Combination of office, phone, and email communication Some evening availability preferred Why Work at RICAN?
