Job Description

Founding STEM Program Instructor (Part-Time)
Organization:
Prep Academy Tutors of North Austin Location:
Beecave, TX Schedule:
1 session per week (approximately 12:00 PM-1:30 PM) for an initial 8-week pilot program, with opportunities for ongoing expansion and additional teaching hours. About the Opportunity We are seeking an enthusiastic STEM educator to help launch and grow a hands-on STEM enrichment program for elementary and middle school students.

This position begins as an 8-week pilot program meeting once per week but is intended to evolve into a long-term offering. Our goal is to build a signature STEM program that can eventually operate from a dedicated physical location and serve as a cornerstone of a growing micro-school and enrichment community. This is an ideal opportunity for an educator who enjoys designing engaging experiences, inspiring curiosity, and helping shape a program from the ground up. Program Philosophy Our STEM program emphasizes: Hands-on learning Engineering design challenges Problem-solving and critical thinking Teamwork and communication Creativity and innovation Real-world applications of science and technology We are less interested in lectures and worksheets and more interested in students building, testing, designing, experimenting, and presenting.
Potential projects may include:
Robotics Coding and game design Engineering challenges Physics demonstrations Electronics and circuitry 3D design and fabrication Maker-space activities Science experiments Entrepreneurship and innovation projects Responsibilities Lead weekly STEM enrichment sessions Plan engaging, age-appropriate STEM activities Facilitate project-based learning experiences Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment Manage materials and basic supply needs Communicate with program leadership regarding student engagement and program development Provide recommendations for future curriculum and program expansion Assist in refining and growing the STEM program over time Preferred Qualifications Candidates may come from a variety of backgrounds, including: Certified teachers STEM educators Engineers Computer scientists Robotics instructors Makerspace facilitators Science museum educators Camp instructors Graduate students in STEM fields Retired educators Strong candidates will demonstrate: Passion for STEM education Ability to engage students through hands-on activities Comfort leading groups of elementary and middle school students Creativity and initiative Strong classroom management skills Excellent communication and organization What We're Looking For The ideal candidate wants to help build a program that grows over time, potentially expanding into multiple weekly sessions, camps, after-school offerings, homeschool enrichment programs, and future micro-school programming.
