Job Description

Essential Functions Oversee overall management and supervision of the TRIO UB program to provide assigned project participants with extensive case management services, such as connections to dual credit programs. Job Duties and Responsibilities Work with the Business Office to ensure accurate recordkeeping procedures and effective practices in keeping with the financial management system of CBC. Monitor the project database and generate daily, weekly, monthly, and annual performance reports in addition to a Summary of Student Service Logs. Ensure participant files and project needs will be placed in official participant files and will be stored properly. Responsible for the project's overall management and ensuring that all personnel are recruited, hired, and trained in a manner consistent with CBC policy. Hold formal bi-weekly meetings with project staff to discuss implementation of project activities. Participant in ongoing training throughout each year of the project in student retention, persistence, academic advising, financial aid information, TRIO legislation and regulations, etc. Provide participants and parents with an overview of program goals and objectives, services, programming schedule, etc., at least twice a year. Meet with key administrative personnel to discuss the project objectives, selection criteria, and services and activities at the beginning of each school year. Schedule semester meetings with each target school lead counselor at the beginning of each school year to discuss project goals and objectives and review the prior year's activities/involvement. Work with the target school's teachers to monitor participants' progress weekly. Also, work collaboratively with designated teachers from each target school to serve as liaisons between the project and participants. Track former participants as they enter, continue, and graduate from college. Verify all postsecondary enrollments annually via the National Clearinghouse. Coordinate a six-week Summer Residential program for project participants. Complete the Upward Bound Annual Performance Report each year by the required deadline. Ensures that Upward Bound meets established objectives within federal guidelines; keeps up to date on legislative updates regarding Upward Bound. Follow all CBC Grant Management/Compliance protocol, including following the procurement process. Performs other duties and responsibilities detailed in the Upward Bound proposal.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, public administration, business, or related field. Excellent oral and written communication skills 3-5 years of progressive management experience with UB and/or other TRIO programs Experience in a higher education setting Experience providing advising services to low-income, first-generation college students.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in counseling, education, psychology, business, or a related field. At least 3 years of experience in supervision, program development, evaluation, and compliance with federal regulations. Bilingual (English/Spanish), TRIO Alum.
Supplemental Information Travel Requirements:
Travel is required for this position. Must have a valid driver's license and auto insurance to travel to project partner high schools, campus visits, cultural outings, and could include driving to participants' homes and/or community locations.
Environment:
Work is performed in a standard office or similar environment. Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling. Occasional lifting of objects up to 10 lbs.
