Exempt Scope of Job To assist in the operation of a program or multiple projects, exercising independent judgment and authority as required, in the development and delivery of programs and services for student organizations and fraternity and sorority life. Advises student leaders and advisors, coordinates organizational processes, supports policy and risk management efforts, and plans engagement and leadership initiatives. Collaborates with students and campus partners to enhance operations and promote student involvement, leadership development, and a sense of belonging. Responsible for all phases of the program, including budget recommendations, program selection, staff supervision, recommendations for future planning, and innovation. Description of Duties Coordinates program to ensure that implementation and prescribed activities are carried out in accordance with specified objectives. Supervises and manages the day-to-day activities and personnel of the assigned program. Develops and supervises the implementation of multiple projects or programs, such as Vaqueros Clubs Training and Education, Risk Management Trainings, and Aspiring Greek Leaders Academy. Advises and supports student organizations on university policies (e.g., free speech, solicitation, guest speakers), procedures, event planning, risk management, leadership development and organizational operations. Provides comprehensive support and advisement to Greek chapters and governing councils, including the Inter-Fraternity Council (IFC), Multicultural Greek Council (MGC), and Panhellenic Council (PC), while overseeing council initiatives, recruitment/intake education, and community standards. Provides guidance to student leaders and organization advisors regarding constitutions, officer transitions, organizational best practices, and campus resources; manages conflict resolution and compliance matters by addressing complex disputes and organizational issues. Facilitates registration and recognition processes for student organizations. Supports the implementation and oversight of systems used to manage student organization records, forms, training, and communication. Prepares semester and end-of-year reports; compiles, reviews, and analyzes program data and makes recommendations for future program planning; maintains historical program records. Participates in budget planning and is responsible for controlling expenditures in accordance with budget allocations for the program. Coordinates long and short term programs, including performing feasibility studies and estimating the cost of the program. Represents the department and university at orientation and university-sponsored events. Reviews program records and recommends modifications to procedures as needed. Drafts brochures, letters, agendas, and contracts related to the promotion of the assigned program areas Develops marketing, outreach, and communication plan to promote the assigned program area services, initiatives, and opportunities for involvement. Attends meetings, conferences, and seminars related to the program's mission and goals. Supervises and organizes seminars, conferences, and presentations. Provides ongoing staff development, on site demonstrations and field based experiences related to project or program. Conducts formal training or gives instruction regarding program policies and procedures such as risk management and hazing prevention. Develops, cultivates, and maintains working relationships with internal/external departments/agencies and other organizations associated with and/or receiving benefit from the program to strengthen services, programs, and student success. May coordinate and oversee tutorial, counseling, teaching, and/or training activities of the program. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Education Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited university. Preferred Education Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Educational Leadership, Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration, Sociology, Psychology, or a related field. Licenses/Certifications None. Required Experience Three (3) years of experience performing closely related duties, including program planning/coordination or related experience in the appropriate field of the program, or One (1) year of the required experience with a Master's degree, or Five (5) years of the required experience with an Associate Degree or 60 hours of College Credit, or Seven (7) years of the required experience with a High School Diploma or equivalent. Preferred Experience Experience in advising and mentoring student employees and leaders. Equipment As specified for the particular job. Working Conditions Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Normal office or classroom or outside environment. Some travel and weekend work is required. Particular project or program may require ability to drive a car for local or distant travel for consultation, training, meetings, or on site demonstrations. Must be able to bend, stoop, reach and lift for retrieving/maintaining files and for setting up multimedia equipment. Must be able to move between buildings, offices and classrooms. UTRGV is a distributed institution, which may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley.
