Ney Administration Building Primary Purpose:
To provide leadership, coordination, and support in the development and implementation of special education programs and services across the district. The SPED Program Specialist works collaboratively with campus staff, service providers, and administrators to ensure compliance with regulations and promote best practices for students with disabilities.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master's degree in Special Education or related field (preferred) Valid Texas teaching certificate with Special Education endorsement Minimum of three years of teaching experience in Special Education Strong knowledge of
IDEA, ARD
procedures, and program development
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of instructional and behavioral strategies Strong communication and collaboration skills Data analysis and problem-solving ability Ability to manage multiple tasks
Major Responsibilities and Duties :
Provide support to special education teachers and staff on instruction and compliance Monitor implementation of IEPs Facilitate ARD/IEP meetings and assist with complex cases Analyze data for instructional planning and progress monitoring Support inclusion practices and specialized programs Provide staff development and training Collaborate with service providers and administrators Monitor compliance through walkthroughs and audits Assist with hiring and mentoring new staff Serve as a liaison between the department and campuses Perform other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent prolonged and irregular hours. Frequent districtwide travel.
Stipends:
$4,000 Works 195-day calendar Salary is commensurate with experience Minimum Salary $66,000 Please note that this role requires in-person attendance and is not eligible for remote work. Sheldon ISD will accept applications for this position through May 20, 2026. After this date, applications will continue to be accepted in the event a suitable candidate is not identified. If no viable candidate is selected from the initial applicant pool, applications submitted after May 20th will be reviewed in ten-day intervals until a candidate is recommended for hire.
