This program primarily serves first-generation college students who are selected as Lopez Scholars through UTPB. This role is centered on achieving the following key student outcomes: Scholars graduate on time (within five years) with at least a bachelor's degree Scholars graduate with meaningful leadership experience, which may include study abroad and/or at least one internship Scholars graduate prepared for success, securing quality employment, graduate school admission, or competitive fellowship opportunities The Program Manager plays a critical role in fostering a high-impact student experience by connecting scholars to campus resources, leadership opportunities, and career pathways that align with these goals. The Director will report to the Executive Director of Career Services. Develop and implement comprehensive student success and leadership development strategies for Lopez Scholars Lead onboarding efforts for new scholars and their families, ensuring a strong understanding of program expectations, resources, and opportunities Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned scholars, providing ongoing coaching, mentoring, and individualized support Build collaborative partnerships across campus, including academic advising, tutoring services, residential life, student engagement, and civic involvement Monitor scholar academic progress, engagement, and overall well-being; provide proactive support and intervention as needed Design and facilitate networking opportunities, leadership programming, enrichment activities, and community engagement initiatives Identify and promote access to high-impact opportunities such as internships, study abroad programs, undergraduate research, and graduate education pathways Track individual student progress toward academic, experiential learning, and program milestones Collect, analyze, and report program data to stakeholders in alignment with grant requirements and institutional policies Represent the program by attending Hector and Gloria Lopez Foundation meetings, trainings, and events Required Qualifications 1. Bachelor's degree 2. Demonstrated ability to design and implement student success or leadership development programs Preferred Qualifications 1. Experience working with first-generation college students or underrepresented student populations 2. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills 3. Ability to build collaborative relationships across departments and with external partners 4. Schedule Generally, the normal work hours for the university are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 - 5:30 pm; Friday, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Hours worked may differ with some departments. Standard Working Conditions 1. Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis. 2. Able to bend, crouch, and reach continuously. 3. Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously. 4. Able to remain standing up to 15% of the time. 5. Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform job duties including extensive keyboard work, operating office equipment, performing filing, and other job-related responsibilities that include extensive wrist and hand movement. 6.
