Position Summary:

The CPS Liaison & ADVANCE Educator provides specialized, trauma-informed support to non-offending parents involved with Child Protective Services (CPS) due to domestic violence concerns. This position facilitates Safer Path's ADVANCE Program (Acknowledging Domestic Violence and Navigating CPS Effectively) and serves as the primary point of contact for participants throughout the seven-week program. Working collaboratively with survivors and CPS professionals, the CPS Liaison & ADVANCE Educator promotes safety, increases understanding of domestic violence dynamics, supports survivor autonomy, and helps participants successfully navigate CPS requirements related to domestic violence concerns. Through education, advocacy, communication, and coordination, this position assists families in strengthening safety, stability, and protective parenting practices. Many ADVANCE participants may not engage in Safer Path's broader advocacy services. • Facilitate the seven-week ADVANCE educational program for participants referred by CPS.
• Create a safe, trauma-informed, and supportive learning environment.
• Educate participants regarding domestic violence dynamics, safety planning, protective parenting, and CPS processes.
• Encourage participant engagement, accountability, and self-determination.
• Track attendance, participation, and program completion. Client Support and Advocacy
• Serve as the primary point of contact for ADVANCE participants throughout the program.
• Provide orientation and ongoing support to participants enrolled in the program.
• Maintain communication regarding attendance, scheduling, program expectations, and participant needs.
• Provide victim-centered advocacy and emotional support during CPS involvement.
• Assist participants in identifying safety concerns and developing safety strategies.
• Support participants in understanding CPS expectations and navigating related systems.
• Provide referrals to appropriate internal and external resources and conduct follow-up as needed. CPS Coordination and Communication
• Serve as Safer Path's primary liaison with CPS regarding ADVANCE participants.
• Maintain professional working relationships with CPS investigators, conservatorship workers, and related personnel.
• Communicate participant enrollment, attendance, progress, and completion consistent with agency policy and confidentiality requirements.
• Advocate for survivor-centered approaches when collaborating with CPS.
• Promote understanding of domestic violence impacts on non-offending parents and children.
• Participate in multidisciplinary collaboration and case coordination as appropriate. Case Management and Administrative Responsibilities
• Complete participant intake, registration, enrollment, and case documentation processes.
• Maintain accurate and timely records within agency databases, including Vela.
• Document participant contacts, services provided, outcomes, and program participation.
• Prepare reports and program documentation as required.
• Monitor participant progress and maintain compliance with agency, funder, and confidentiality requirements Community and Agency Engagement
• Participate in staff meetings, training opportunities, and agency activities.
• Maintain knowledge of best practices related to domestic violence, trauma, victim advocacy, and child welfare systems.
• Represent Safer Path professionally in community collaborations involving domestic violence and CPS-related issues. Compliance & Mandatory Reporting
• All Education staff are required to comply with all mandatory reporting laws, confidentiality requirements, and agency policies related to participant safety, disclosures, and crisis situations.

All concerns must be documented and escalated according to protocol.

Qualifications:

Required

• Associate's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Criminal Justice, Psychology, Education, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
• Experience working with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, trauma, or child welfare systems.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed, survivor-centered advocacy principles.
• Ability to establish professional relationships with clients and partner agencies.
• Strong verbal, written, organizational, and documentation skills.
• Ability to manage confidential information appropriately.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic case management systems.
• Reliable transportation and ability to travel locally as needed. Preferred
• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Experience working directly with CPS or child welfare systems.
• Experience facilitating educational groups or support groups.
• Bilingual English/Spanish.
• Experience with data management systems, including Vela. Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
• Understanding of domestic violence dynamics and their impact on children and families.
• Ability to balance survivor advocacy with professional collaboration across systems.
• Strong conflict-resolution and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

• Ability to engage participants who may be experiencing crisis, fear, or system-related stress.

• Part-time position with a combination of office, classroom/group facilitation, and community-based work.
• Some evening hours may be required to accommodate participant schedules.
• Frequent interaction with survivors experiencing crisis, trauma, and system involvement.
