Job Description

Prevention Specialist I Highlands Community Services (HCS) is excited to add a passionate, collaborative, and community-minded Prevention Specialist to our Prevention Education team! If you love working with people, making a difference, and bringing positive energy into schools and communities, this role might be a perfect fit. As a Prevention Specialist, you'll help inspire healthier choices and stronger communities by leading prevention and wellness efforts focused on alcohol, tobacco, drugs, suicide, problem gambling, and overall well-being. You'll work closely with schools, community partners, and coalitions to deliver engaging programs and meaningful outreach. This position blends planning, creativity, and people-centered work. You'll be out in the community facilitating groups, delivering training, hosting booths at health fairs, and collaborating with partners, all while helping shape prevention strategies that really make an impact.

Location:
Abingdon, VA Status:
Full-time, Non-exempt, Monday-Friday, occasional evening or weekend
Compensation:
$18.50 - Commensurate with education/experience
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or related fields.
Experience:
Specialized training or a minimum of one (1) year of experience in at least one of the following: Behavioral health wellness, education, criminal justice, or community advocacy and communication.
