Job Description

General Statement of Duties Henrico County Public Schools (HCPS) is excited to provide after-school programming to elementary-age children attending select Henrico County schools. Programming focuses on academic support and enrichment through hands-on activities and field trips that offer an array of learning experiences. The Out of School Time Program Lead position will oversee afterschool programming and supervise teachers and teacher assistants. The position may also be responsible for a designated group of students, planning, collaborating and implementing a variety of activities while developing positive, nurturing relationships. Essential Duties Engages students and ensures participation in activities. Develops appropriate relationships with students and families to better understand and meet the needs of individual students. Ensures the safety of students attending program. Serves as a positive role model and demonstrates professional behavior. Facilitates a welcoming environment that is engaging and promotes positive interactions. Promotes a team concept through a positive approach to supervision, communication, and interactions with others. Oversee day-to-day programming ensuring teachers have what they need on their carts, including lesson plan, copies of activities, manipulatives, snacks, hand sanitizer, walkie, etc.; ensure that teachers understand daily lesson plans to be implemented. Remain visible at all times - fill in for teachers, when necessary, solve problems, provide assistance, arrive early to the student reception area (usually the cafeteria), walk the hallways and be available. Engage and equip volunteers to support programs. Coordinate delivery of enrichment activities. Nurture family, student, and school relationships; serve as a link between afterschool and the school Observe teachers and aides quarterly and provide constructive feedback. Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals; ensure staff time is accounted for accurately. Update records daily - attendance, staff sign-in, staff hours, nutrition, inventory, parent sign-out. Attend all required PD training including Fall and Spring VDOE conferences. Oversee disciplinary issues in a positive manner using resources appropriate for the behavior - conversation, time-out, send home, etc.; parent contact is mandatory. Maintains accurate classroom records as assigned and according to program requirements. Keep eyes and ears on students during the entire session, walk around, encourage, de-escalate potential situations, ensure the safety of all students in the assigned group. Attends school events, scheduled professional development, staff meetings and conferences as designated by supervisor. Arrive at the CLC site on time and remain in the classroom with your students at all times during sessions. Follow guidelines set by the site supervisor or lead teacher (as described in CLC Manual) such as calling out sick, signing in and out, maintenance of the classrooms, grant expectations, and any duty as assigned by the site supervisor or lead teacher. Respond to all staff and community inquiries in a timely manner. Assist with family engagement events to meet grant requirements. Assist with snacks and meals. Adheres to HCPS policies and procedures. Regular attendance is required Performs all other duties as assigned. Additional Information
