A Program Officer oversees the development of an organization's programs. This may includes staff development, project management, implementation and daily management of activities. May also oversee funds and budgets.
The clubs meet weekly, 1.5 hours/session, throughout the school year to work through the
LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3
curriculum, which has been vetted by the Carnegie Mellon Robotics Academy and aligns with Common Core standards. At the end of the first 11 weeks, teams showcase their acquired skills and knowledge in a friendly competition. They will also lead the STEM Robotics Competition team as they participate in local/regional tournaments in the fall. Additionally, the AmeriCorps STEM Robotics Clubs Facilitator mentors up to 8 high school seniors (College Preparation and Civic Engagement) students throughout the school year.
Member Duties :
Plan and conduct after-school Robotics Club activities. Prepare, administer, and report results of pre- and post-surveys to measure students' progress. Maintain inventory and keep robotics laptops, curriculum software, and robot kits in working order. Train and support
ELP STEM
Robotics volunteers. Maintain and report accurate participant and volunteer data (attendance, progress, completion), and keep track of the program's expenses for meals and supplies. Plan and conduct a robotics competition at the end of the program. Serve one-on-one with high school seniors to mentor them through the college, financial aid, and scholarship application process on a weekly basis, during the full academic year. Assist with the organization of youth events. Assist with ELP marketing and outreach efforts (students, mentors, and volunteers). Engage community partners in supporting ELP activities, including middle and high school administrators as well as college admissions staff.
