Job Description
Mission of the Role The WisconSibs Summer Intern will support the planning, coordination, and implementation of sibling-focused summer programming within the WisconSibs program at SOAR Fox Cities. This role provides hands-on experience in youth program facilitation, nonprofit operations, and community engagement. This internship is intentionally designed as a meaningful leadership and professional development opportunity for college-aged students, recent high school graduates, or emerging young professionals exploring careers in nonprofit work, education, disability services, social work, or related fields. Because WisconSibs programming is rooted in the sibling experience, ideal candidates may also have personal lived experience as a sibling of an individual with a developmental or intellectual disability. A successful intern is enthusiastic, dependable, creative, and interested in supporting youth and families impacted by disability. This position is designed to provide meaningful, real-world experience while contributing to high-quality programming and outreach. Capacity of the Role This is a part-time, temporary summer internship with an estimated 200 total hours. Scheduling is flexible based on program needs and the intern's availability. Some evening and overnight commitments are required based on program dates. This Work Environment This role includes both office-based planning and active participation in community-based programming. Interns will engage in a variety of settings including indoor program spaces and outdoor environments. Noise levels and activity levels may vary depending on programming. Physical Requirements While not physically demanding, this role may require standing for extended periods, participating in recreational activities, lifting up to 25 lbs, and engaging in active youth programming environments. Major Responsibilities Program Support & Facilitation Assist in planning, coordinating, and implementing WisconSibs summer programs including: Teen Sib Leadership Retreat Sib Days of Summer Sib Discovery Retreat Support participant engagement and help create a positive, inclusive program environment Assist with program setup, logistics, and general coordination Social Media & Communications Support and maintain the WisconSibs social media presence (primarily Facebook) Develop and implement a summer content plan Create reels and short-form content highlighting program experiences Share program updates that reflect participant impact and community connection Collaboration & Organizational Exposure Work collaboratively with SOAR Fox Cities staff and volunteers across programs Gain exposure to nonprofit operations, communication, and program development Participate in team meetings or trainings as appropriate Program Dates June 11-13: Teen Sib Leadership Retreat (overnight) July 13-17: Sib Days of Summer (day program) August 9-13: Sib Discovery Retreat (overnight) Virtual training: Dates TBD •Attendance at programs is a required component of this internship• Other General Responsibilities Enters data on services provided into organization database. Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director. Required Qualifications Minimum one year of college completed Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to take initiative and work both independently and as part of a team Enthusiasm for working with youth and individuals with disabilities Preferred (not required): Has personal lived experience as a sibling of an individual with a disability Interest in nonprofit work, education, or human services Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, Publisher, etc.) Reliable transportation. Compensation $15/hour, estimated 200 total hours Position Timeline Start and end dates are flexible based on academic schedules. Work hours will vary based on program needs.
