About us Hola Cultura is a nonprofit online site that celebrates the culture and contributions of Latinos and Latino culture. We produce independent media coverage of Latino artists, conduct original research and host events that showcase our diverse community. Through this work, we lift up diverse voices, break down barriers, and promote cross-cultural understanding. Hola Cultura is a proud winner of an Edward R. Murrow Regional Award for Best News Documentary! Your role As an Editorial Assistant, you will be part of a storytelling team focusing on topic areas, such as the arts and humanities and Latino cultural initiatives, identity, social and environmental justice, and more. You and your team will conduct interviews and work together to produce and publish articles, attend and report on events, produce podcasts and other media. This hybrid position will combine two or three in-person work sessions per week, along with online meetings and remote work. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in pursuing a career in journalism or related communication fields. Requirements Must be a Boston resident and between the ages of 19 and 24. Strong teamwork skills, as well as an ability to work independently and meet deadlines Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English Coursework toward a Bachelor's degree, a plus but not required Coursework in Journalism, Communications or other relevant field, a plus Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills, a plus Familiarity with AP Style, a plus Social media management, video and podcast production, and multi-platform editing, are a plus Commitment to accuracy and an ability to remain objective and engage with people of all viewpoints Commitment to the organization's mission and goals Duties and responsibilities With guidance from the organization's Professional Development Staff, Editors, and Editorial Fellows, Editorial Interns will: Work up to 30 hours a week, a combination of remote work and 2 or 3 in-person meetings in East Boston each week Work in a team to create print stories, videos and podcasts for publication over the course of the semester Carry out weekly remote assignments related to story production and professional development Assist with social media campaigns Serve as peer mentors to younger Interns Collaborate with others on special projects and events Other duties, as assigned Boston Summer Semester dates: June 22, 2026, to August 31, 2026
