What You'll Do As our new Project Coordinator , you will: Coordinate and manage park and facility maintenance, renovation, development, and Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) from planning through closeout, ensuring scope, schedule, and budget objectives are achieved. Oversee contracted services for park and facility construction, repair, and preventative maintenance; perform field inspections to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and applicable codes. Develop and coordinate project scopes, cost estimates, construction drawing submittals and reviews, and material specifications for park amenities, buildings, and site improvements. Administer project budgets including possible associated grant funding, track expenditures, and support long-range capital planning and asset management efforts. Prepare and manage procurement documents including Invitations for Bid (IFBs), Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and Requests for Information (RFIs); evaluate bids, verify contractor qualifications and licensing, and assist in contract negotiation and award. Coordinate with internal departments, consultants, and contractors to ensure timely project delivery and minimal disruption to public services. Oversee installation, repair, and replacement of park and facility infrastructure including playgrounds, irrigation systems, HVAC, electrical systems, mechanical systems, lighting, hardscape, and building interiors/exteriors etc. Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including safety standards, ADA, and environmental requirements. What We're Looking For Someone who: Has working knowledge of public works project delivery, construction management practices, and municipal procurement processes. Understands principles of project planning, design development, cost estimating, bid preparation, and construction scheduling. Has the ability to coordinate and interpret construction documents, technical specifications, and project cost estimates. Is skilled in coordinating multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and regulatory compliance. Communicates effectively with contractors, consultants, staff, and the public. Thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and demonstrates initiative, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous learning.
Minimum Qualifications:
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
Education:
Equivalent to an associate degree from an accredited college or university with coursework in architecture, landscape architecture, engineering, public administration, or a related field.
Experience:
Four (4) years of increasingly responsible project management experience for facility maintenance, parks maintenance, or construction.
Licenses and Certifications:
Possession of a valid California Driver's License, to be maintained throughout employment.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Mobility to work in the field; strength and stamina to perform light to medium physical work. Operate a motor vehicle and visit various community sites. Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen. Hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. The ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects averaging a weight of 40 pounds, or heavier weights, in all cases with the use of proper equipment and/or assistance from other staff.
