We specialize in custom fabrication for retail displays, themed environments, 3D characters, trade shows, and experiential installations. Our work moves fast and our standards are high. Priorities shift, timelines are tight, and no two projects are the same. We're built for people who enjoy solving problems in real time, thrive in a fast-paced production environment, and want to see their work come to life. Explore our work at 60 Grit Studios. The Role We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Project Manager with strong fabrication and production knowledge to lead custom projects from kickoff through fabrication, installation, and strike. This role works closely with our fabrication, production, design, vendor, and installation teams. We are looking for someone who understands how things are built and can translate project requirements into practical production plans. The Project Manager will take ownership of assigned projects from start to finish, coordinating schedules, budgets, materials, vendors, client communication, production, quality, and installation. Success in this role requires strong judgment, clear communication, attention to detail, and the ability to solve problems quickly when priorities or project requirements change. This is not an entry-level position. It is designed for someone with meaningful experience in custom fabrication or a similar production-driven environment who enjoys being actively involved in bringing complex projects to life. What You'll Do Manage custom fabrication projects from kickoff through production, installation, and strike. Coordinate with fabrication, production, design, and other internal departments to keep projects aligned with scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations. Serve as a key point of communication for clients, vendors, internal teams, and field crews. Translate project requirements, drawings, timelines, and client expectations into actionable production plans. Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, recaps, documentation, and deliverables. Coordinate material sourcing, purchasing, outside vendors, and subcontracted services. Monitor project and production progress, identify risks or potential delays, and proactively develop solutions. Maintain an active presence in the shop and stay informed about the status of assigned projects throughout production. Oversee quality control through regular review and coordination with production teams prior to delivery and installation. Prepare and review setup packets, installation instructions, drawings, and other project documentation. Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining organization and attention to detail. Exercise independent judgment and discretion when prioritizing work, coordinating resources, and resolving project-related challenges. Oversee onsite installations and coordinate with field teams to support successful project delivery. Communicate project changes, concerns, decisions, and status updates clearly and promptly. What We're Looking For 3-5+ years of project or production management experience in custom fabrication, experiential environments, themed environments, retail displays, trade shows, signage, or a comparable fabrication-driven industry . Strong working knowledge of fabrication materials and processes, including wood, metal, acrylic, foam, graphics, and related production methods. Experience working directly with fabrication and production teams in a shop environment. Proven ability to manage projects from kickoff through fabrication, installation, and final delivery. Ability to read and interpret floor plans, elevations, shop drawings, and other production documentation. Strong organizational, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt quickly when schedules or project requirements change. Confidence directing teams and coordinating work across departments. Strong sense of ownership and accountability for project outcomes. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace. Preferred Qualifications Experience managing or overseeing fabrication shop or production workflows. Experience with custom displays, themed environments, experiential activations, trade shows, or large-scale installations. Experience coordinating field installations and strike. Familiarity with ClickUp or similar project management software . Experience working in a MacOS environment. Experience coordinating multiple fabrication disciplines and outside vendors. Work Environment & Schedule This is a full-time, onsite position . Regular onsite presence is essential because the Project Manager works directly with our fabrication and production teams and needs visibility into projects as they move through the shop. Candidates must be able to reliably report onsite Monday through Friday and travel to project or installation sites as needed.
Typical schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8-hour shifts. Overtime, evenings, weekends, or schedule adjustments may occasionally be required based on project deadlines, installations, and business needs. Compensation & Classification This is a full-time, salaried position . The posted salary range reflects base compensation for the role. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, qualifications, and other job-related factors. The position is intended to be classified as exempt from overtime. Final classification will be determined in accordance with applicable California wage and hour requirements based on the position's actual duties, responsibilities, compensation, and other applicable factors. Physical & Travel Requirements This position involves regular movement between office and production areas and may require standing and walking throughout the workday. Occasional lifting of approximately 30-50 lbs. may be required, with or without reasonable accommodation. The position also requires the ability to travel to project and installation sites and, when required, operate company vehicles consistent with company requirements and applicable law. How to Apply If you're looking for a role where you can take ownership of challenging projects, work directly with fabrication and production teams, and help bring complex ideas to life, we'd love to hear from you. Please submit your resume highlighting your relevant fabrication, production, and project management experience. We consider qualified applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, national origin, ancestry, disability, medical condition, genetic information, marital status, age, military or veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
