Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports the successful execution of construction projects by assisting with planning, documentation, scheduling, cost tracking, and quality control. This position plays a key role in field support, contract compliance, estimating, and project coordination efforts. The APM ensures that safety, quality, and productivity standards are upheld while fostering communication between internal teams, subcontractors, and vendors.PRIMARY RESPONSIBLIITIES
Act as an assistant to the Project Manager Participate in Jobsite Safety Analysis (JSA) reviews and daily toolbox meetings Complete field QA/QC documentation accurately and utilize hold points appropriately Take and organize daily field photos for tracking progress and quality documentation Receive and inspect materials for quality, reporting defects or imperfections as needed Contribute to short-term scheduling updates and work plan development Plan and schedule equipment to match field operations effectively Identify procurement needs and initiate requisition processes Coordinate and manage subcontractors and suppliers on-site Read and evaluate cost reports and budget tracking tools for project insight Perform quantity take-offs and method analyses in collaboration with the Construction Manager Draft, submit, and follow through on RFI (Requests for Information) and RFC (Requests for Change) processes Manage submittals and ensure compliance with project documentation procedures Interpret project drawings, specifications, and contract requirements with accuracy Confirm estimating quantities align with cost reports before syncing budgets from B2W to Vista Track quantities installed to date and verify accuracy of claimed quantities in B2W Track and Vista Maintain redline drawings and ensure updates are communicated through formal change channels Track permanent materials and commodities including ordering, yields, and usage claims Accurately enter field cost data into B2W for reporting and forecasting Analyze past costs and reports for use in planning and estimating Evaluate and select cost-effective equipment based on application and compatibility Understand STS and consumable needs for different construction activities Apply knowledge of labor trades and crew composition to estimate proper labor and equipment resources Assist with planning and estimating from conceptual stage to field execution Accurately complete PIC forms with required detail Support estimate review and startup team with drawing/specification reviews Submit and review Good Catches with crews to support ongoing safety awareness Promote and adhere to company safety protocols and regulations Support and exemplify the company's mission and values in all interactions Perform additional duties as assignedREQUIREMENTS
Minimum 1 year of project support, coordination, or estimating Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred Knowledge of utility, civil, or oil & gas construction is preferred Municipal Work management experience (pumps stations, water main replacement projects, water treatment plant upgrades, and wastewater treatment upgrades) Competent knowledge of EPA, OSHA, and DOT as applicable to construction industry Professional, proven ability to partner with all levels from executive team to craft employees Ability to successfully work with subcontractors and vendors Excellent oral and written communication skills Working knowledge of project management platforms (Bluebeam, Excel, SharePoint, Microsoft Projects, Vista, B2W, Primavera P6) Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and SharePoint Ability to sit at a desk and use a computer for extended periods of time Ability to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse, phone, and other standard office equipment Ability to lift and carry items such as files, boxes, or office supplies (typically up to 20 lbs) Must be able to wear and operate the required personal protective equipment (PPE), such as hard hats, safety glasses, and glovesSimilar remote jobs
