Job Title:
Assistant Project Manager (Construction) Job Description We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support the planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects across the commercial, clean room, pharmaceutical, and semiconductor sectors . This role works closely with Project Managers and site teams to help deliver projects on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and capable of managing multiple priorities while supporting complex construction projects in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Assist Project Managers with overseeing all phases of construction projects from pre-construction through closeout Support the development and tracking of project budgets, schedules, and resource plans Coordinate with clients, architects, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure project requirements are met Assist in ensuring compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and quality standards Track project progress and flag schedule, cost, or scope issues to the Project Manager Prepare and help maintain project documentation, including meeting minutes, logs, reports, and records Support the management of RFIs, submittals, change orders, and take-offs Assist with procurement of materials and equipment to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery Participate in project meetings and help facilitate communication across project teams Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and adherence to project specifications and safety protocols Assist with risk identification and mitigation strategies Help resolve field issues by coordinating with internal teams and subcontractors Foster a collaborative, organized, and positive project environment Essential Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field 2-4 years of experience in construction or project coordination, preferably in commercial or technically complex environments Basic understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced setting Proficiency with project management and construction documentation processes Comfortable working both in-office and on active construction sites Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn from senior project staff Additional Skills & Preferred Qualifications Experience or exposure to clean room, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, healthcare, or manufacturing projects Familiarity with RFIs, submittals, change orders, schedules, and cost tracking Software experience with Procore, MS Project, Sage, or similar construction platforms Experience supporting projects ranging from $500k to $20M , with emphasis on $3-5M projects Exposure to ground-up construction, office fit-outs, and renovation projects Interest in professional development; PMP or CAPM certification is a plus (or interest in pursuing) Knowledge of sustainable construction practices or LEED exposure is a plus Work Environment Typical schedule: 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM Project sites located throughout Connecticut (Fairfield, Hartford, New Haven counties) and Poughkeepsie, NY Time split between company headquarters in Brookfield and active job sites Strong emphasis on training, mentorship, and career development , with clear growth opportunities into Project Manager roles as the company expands Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brookfield, CT. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $120000.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
