Assistant Project Manager / Junior Construction Project Manager Job Description This role offers an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated, goal-oriented Junior Construction Project Manager to grow within a commercial roofing contractor environment. You will work closely with the Project Management Team to coordinate project activities, schedule manpower, and help manage multiple roofing projects from pre-bid through completion. The position combines field and office coordination, documentation, and communication to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. Responsibilities Collaborate directly with the Project Management Team to coordinate job activities and schedule manpower for multiple roofing projects. Help manage various commercial roofing projects simultaneously, supporting planning, execution, and closeout. Assemble complete and accurate submittal packages in accordance with project specifications and requirements. Attend pre-bid, pre-roofing, and project meetings to support estimating, planning, and coordination efforts. Assist in ordering materials and coordinating deliveries to ensure timely availability of resources on each project. Maintain clear, professional communication with customers, suppliers, and field personnel to support smooth project operations. Prepare monthly pay requisitions based on percent completion of projects and ensure documentation is accurate and submitted on time. Monitor subcontractor progress, review performance, and approve subcontractor pay applications in alignment with project status. Track and monitor project costs and schedules, helping to identify issues early and support corrective actions. Use project management tools and software, including Procore and other construction management systems, to document and coordinate project activities. Support the implementation and adherence to general construction safety practices on all assigned projects. Represent the company in a clean, professional manner during all meetings and interactions with clients, vendors, and project stakeholders. Perform other project-related duties as assigned to support successful delivery of roofing and construction projects. Essential Skills General construction knowledge with an understanding of commercial project workflows and terminology. Roofing knowledge, particularly in commercial roofing, is highly beneficial for this role. Ability to read and interpret construction plans, drawings, and specifications accurately. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, for documentation and communication. Ability to work with Adobe Acrobat for reviewing, editing, and assembling project documents and submittals. Strong leadership skills with the ability to support and influence project teams and field personnel. Effective verbal communication skills to interact confidently with customers, suppliers, and internal teams. Strong multitasking abilities to manage several projects, tasks, and deadlines at the same time. High level of organization and attention to detail, especially in a fast-paced construction environment. Familiarity with general construction safety practices and the ability to support safe work operations. Professional demeanor with the ability to represent the company in a clean and polished manner on job sites and in meetings. Project management skills applicable to construction projects, including coordination, scheduling, and documentation. Experience or ability to learn and use Procore or similar construction project management software. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in construction management or project coordination, particularly in roofing or commercial construction, is an advantage. Hands-on experience with roofing projects, including understanding of roofing systems and installation processes, is a plus. Experience using Procore for managing RFIs, submittals, and project documentation is beneficial. Background in project management, including monitoring project costs, schedules, and subcontractor performance. Ability to prepare and review monthly pay requisitions and subcontractor pay applications. Comfort working with RFI processes and other standard construction communication tools. Strong customer service orientation, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with clients and vendors. Adaptability and willingness to take on other duties as assigned to support project success. Work Environment This position operates within a commercial roofing construction environment, with projects located across Connecticut, New York State, and New York City (including the five boroughs). You will work closely with the Project Management Team and field crews, using technologies such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Procore, and other construction management tools to coordinate and document project activities. The role involves a fast-paced setting where multiple projects run concurrently, requiring frequent communication with customers, suppliers, and field personnel. Employees are expected to follow general construction safety practices on job sites and maintain a clean, professional appearance when representing the company. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Danbury, CT. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $90000.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
