Project Manager Position Overview We are seeking an execution-focused Project Manager with 3 to 5 years of experience to manage the daily lifecycle of individual contracts and task orders for our military-grade rugged display systems. In this fully on-site role, you will own a project from the initial PO kickoff through engineering design, environmental qualification testing, and factory assembly. You will serve as the primary tactical coordinator across engineering, procurement, and manufacturing to deliver high-reliability defense hardware on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities Project Kickoff & Requirements Alignment Design Handoff Coordination :
Manage the formal handoff of preliminary designs from Business Development (BD) during the Purchase Order (PO) kickoff meeting.
Stakeholder Knowledge Download :
Extract critical "tribal knowledge" from Opportunity Owners, establishing a clear understanding of unique customer requirements, mission-critical expectations, deadlines, and key contacts.
Lead Time Validation :
Review project lead times and coordinate necessary scheduling adjustments before formal PO acceptance.
Baseline Specifications :
Create comprehensive specification documentation and compliance matrices to map engineering tasks directly to contractual requirements.
Tactical Engineering Coordination & Schedule Management Resource Allocation :
Partner with Engineering Managers across Electrical (EE), Mechanical (ME), and Systems/Software (SE) engineering disciplines to coordinate task assignments and resource availability.
Schedule Ownership :
Finalize and distribute internal project schedules and deadlines. Maintain and update schedule dates in tracking systems when major operational shifts occur.
Change Control Oversight :
Review and process Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and Product Change Notices (PCNs) for existing part numbers, ensuring strict configuration oversight on the manufacturing floor during builds.
Procurement & Supply Chain Integration Advanced Procurement :
Authorize and release engineering-approved long-lead parts early in the cycle to mitigate supply chain bottlenecks.
Material Budgeting :
Provide the Purchasing and Procurement departments with clear project budget objectives to control material costs.
Supplier Tracking :
Proactively monitor vendor deliveries and engineering completion percentages to catch delays early.
Risk Communication :
Provide advanced notifications of potential timeline risks to Opportunity Owners so customers can be updated proactively.
Financial Tracking & Continuous Improvement Labor Tracking Management :
Initiate, manage, and monitor project labor time tracking to ensure engineering hours stay aligned with budgeted projections.
Expense & Testing Tracking :
Track indirect labor costs, including technician and engineering troubleshooting hours, as well as Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) and vibration testing windows, classifying them strictly as project expenses.
Post-Mortem Financial Analysis :
Conduct thorough post-mortem cost analyses comparing actual final expenses against original goal baselines.
Root Cause & Innovation Analysis :
Identify specific reasons for project lateness to optimize future schedules, leverage data reporting tools to generate helpful operational metrics, and actively identify areas for process improvement, including the integration of AI tools.
Position Requirements & Qualifications Experience :
3-5 years of hands-on project management or coordination experience, specifically within hardware manufacturing, electro-mechanical assembly, or defense electronics.
Citizenship :
U.S. Citizenship is strictly required due to ITAR compliance and defense contract data restrictions.
Work Location :
100% full-time on-site . This role requires direct, daily presence on the manufacturing floor and in engineering labs; remote or hybrid arrangements are not available.
Security Clearance :
No active Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance is required for this position.
Education/Technical Familiarity :
Bachelor's degree in a technical or business discipline preferred. Comfort working with Bill of Materials (BOMs), engineering drawings, and ruggedization concepts (e.g., MIL-STD environmental/vibration testing).
Software Skills :
