Projects Department Manager Global Tech Solutions - 3.9 Waterbury, CT Job Details Full-time 1 day ago Qualifications Azure Computer networking IT Cybersecurity Full Job Description Position Overview Global Tech Solutions is seeking a highly organized and execution-focused Manager of Projects to lead and oversee the day-to-day operations of the Projects Department within a fast-paced Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment. This role is responsible for managing project delivery, departmental processes, project coordinators and engineers, client communication standards, resource coordination, and overall execution accountability across all active projects. The ideal candidate understands how to balance customer experience, operational efficiency, technical coordination, and team accountability while ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and aligned with company standards. The Manager of Projects is expected to drive execution, remove roadblocks, maintain visibility into all active initiatives, and ensure projects move forward consistently without requiring executive intervention. Key Responsibilities Department Leadership & Execution Oversee the daily operations of the Projects Department Manage project workflows, priorities, timelines, and department coordination Ensure all projects are progressing according to scope, schedule, and internal standards Hold team members accountable for deadlines, updates, documentation, and deliverables Escalate risks, delays, resource constraints, and client-impacting issues proactively Maintain operational visibility into all active and upcoming projects Project Oversight Oversee infrastructure, cloud, networking, cybersecurity, onboarding, migration, and systems deployment projects Ensure projects are properly scoped, documented, scheduled, and transitioned between departments Review project status, timelines, dependencies, and completion criteria regularly Ensure project documentation, notes, configurations, and handoffs are completed accurately Coordinate project scheduling with Engineering, Help Desk, Purchasing, and Customer Success teams Team Management Manage Project Managers, Project Engineers, and related project personnel Conduct regular one-on-ones, department meetings, and performance reviews Provide coaching, guidance, and operational support to team members Assist in hiring, onboarding, and training project staff Foster accountability, communication, collaboration, and professionalism within the department Client Communication & Experience Ensure consistent and professional communication with clients throughout project lifecycles Manage client expectations regarding timelines, scheduling, scope, and deliverables Participate in high-level project meetings, escalations, and customer discussions when necessary Ensure projects are delivered with a high standard of customer experience and operational quality Process Improvement & Operational Standards Build and improve project management workflows, standards, and operational procedures Identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and scalability Work closely with leadership on departmental KPIs, reporting, utilization, and project forecasting Assist in improving PSA workflows, project templates, documentation standards, and automation initiatives Qualifications 5+ years of experience managing IT projects within an MSP or IT services environment Prior leadership or management experience preferred Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, networking, Microsoft 365, Azure, cybersecurity, and cloud environments Experience managing multiple concurrent projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment Strong organizational, communication, and client management skills Experience with PSA platforms such as HaloPSA, ConnectWise Manage, or similar systems Ability to lead teams, enforce accountability, and drive execution consistently Strong documentation, coordination, and operational follow-through skills Preferred Qualifications PMP certification or equivalent project management experience Experience within a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment strongly preferred Experience leading infrastructure migrations, cloud deployments, office relocations, and security initiatives Familiarity with Microsoft environments, firewalls, networking, and endpoint management platforms Core Competencies Execution & Accountability Leadership & Team Management Operational Organization Client Communication Cross-Department Coordination Problem Solving & Escalation Management Time Management & Prioritization Process Improvement What Success Looks Like Projects are delivered on time and within scope Teams operate with accountability and clear ownership Clients receive proactive communication and a strong customer experience Department workflows are organized, scalable, and efficient Risks and delays are identified early and addressed proactively Cross-functional coordination between departments improves operational execution About Global Tech Solutions Global Tech Solutions is a rapidly growing Managed Services Provider delivering IT support, cybersecurity, cloud solutions, infrastructure management, and strategic technology services to businesses across multiple industries.
