Job Description

Part-Time Assistant Building Official (Temporary) The Town of Waterford is seeking an experienced and qualified professional to serve as a Part-Time Assistant Building Official for a temporary, high-profile, large-scale commercial project.
Position Overview:
This position will report directly to the Building Official and will support the Building Department in managing a complex commercial development project. The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise in plan review, permitting, and inspections, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Review all permit applications for completeness and compliance Generate detailed plan review comments Review and verify project costs associated with permits Provide written recommendations to the Building Official for permit issuance Conduct inspections across all disciplines to ensure code compliance
Minimum Qualifications:
Extensive experience in administration, plan review, and inspections of large-scale commercial construction projects Possession of a valid State of Connecticut Building Official or Assistant Building Official license Strong knowledge of applicable building codes and regulatory requirements Experience with Municity permitting software is a plus
Compensation & Schedule:
Hourly rate: Up to $65/hour, depending on experience
Schedule:
Up to 28 hours per week working primarily in an on-site project field office
Duration:
Temporary assignment expected to last a minimum of one (1) year with possibility for extension Potential opportunity for full-time employment may be available based on project needs and candidate interest
